I was planning on having a safety pilot to split the cost of rental while we worked on X/C time (since you both can claim PIC as I understand, need to double check the FARs) while one person is under the hood and the other is acting as safety pilot. The one I had is busy trying to buy his own plane and I'm antsy to get my IFR ticket.
I still need 20ish hours for hood time and 30 x/c time. I fly out of Chandler in a 172 operated by a rental company. Will probably need to get checked out, but the plane is great ($89/hr), the owner is an a&p and is the nicest and most accommodating rental operator I've met.
So ideally looking for another IFR student looking to wrap up similar times so we can split the cost and save ourselves a grand or two.
