Phoenix

Given my age and my desire to start this career sooner rather than later, I am looking into ATP Phoenix as a possible school. Does anyone have any input, good or bad, about this school. Right now I am between ATP Phoenix, which I am going to tour this week, and Westwind. I live just south of Anthem but work in mid-Scottsdale. ATP may be a bit of a drive, not sure. Any and all info. is greatly appreciated.

I'm currently working on my CFI over at Westwind. No complaints, good mx, laid back atmosphere and close to home (I'm at Pinnacle peak and I-17.) I did tour ATP and didn't want to drive all the way down there although the facilities were nice. Did the ATP written there and it went well.

When I was ATP-PHX (~2 years ago), I think it was the best location. I am sure there are guys who have been there more recently but I can tell you that when I was there the instructors were great, the facilities were top notch, and the planes were all 2000 or newer. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I just got my finances in order and I am planning to attend ATP Phoenix next month. I took a tour of the facility and liked what I saw.

I was just wondering if it is necessary to have a car to commute between the housing area and the airport.

I am excited and comfortable with the decision I have made. I am 34 years old...turn 35 in September and it's either now or never.

Good luck with your endeavors should it be ATP PHX or elsewhere.

We are in a similar position. Keep us posted to your progression as I am sure there are more than one or two of us interested in your progress, as well as the facilities and personel.

If they are still using the same housing as 3 years ago, it's about a 3 mile trip. You can bum rides here and there, but most everyone I knew had a car there.

I was just there a few weeks ago, kind-of funny coming form a small location and seeing IWA. I couldn't believe there were people wearing pants, it was 44c when we landed and got rocked the entire way in and out.

Currently attending ATP-PHX, The staff is great and all the instructors i've had contact with were/are very professional and easy to talk to. It gets pretty HOT but hopefully the weather will start cooling down soon.

ATP is out for me. It is just WAY to far from not only work, but home. I am looking to Scottsdale and Deer Valley now. I just hope I can get it done, the investment is unbelievable. I knew how much it was, but to sit down and really look............wow.

To jack my own thread for a second, does anyone have any information on Alliance Flight School at Scottsdale Airport?

I used to work at Alliance, but none of the instructors that I worked with are there anymore. The owner is a a decent guy though.
