Phoenix Flight Schools

I have searched the forums for the answer to my question, but it seems each thread that I find turns into an argument and the actual question is never answered.....so my question is as follows:

Can anyone recommend some good flight schools (FBO type, not academy) in the East Valley in Phoenix? Also, can you indicate at which airport they are located?

Thanks a ton for any help!

I can't think of the name, but stay away from the guy that has all the tail wheel airplanes at Chandler. There is a bunch of stuff out of Falcon which probably is pretty good. Once of the guys on the board here instructed out of there for a long time. Nothing FBO based out of Willie. Stellar Airpark might have some guys doing instruction (in fact, a DE I used to use out of there has his 3 or 4 airplanes based out of Stellar but I don't know if he instructs. Casa Grande has some instructing too, but it's not really east valley, and it can get REALLY crazy down there some times.

You've basically got Falcon Field, Chandler, and Stellar making up the East Valley FBO scene. Stellar has an FBO called Angel Air, pricey but good. Chandler has two FBO's, Chandler Air Service and Tailwind. I haven't heard good things about either. Falcon field has a good FBO by the name of Falcon Executive. Executive is probably the best bang for your buck in terms of quality instruction and A/C.

Falcon Executive Aviation at Falcon Field (FFZ).

I did 90% of my training there (got my PPL back home in STL before I moved to PHX) and I instructed there.

Falcon executive has a nice range of aircraft to rent. from c-172's to a barron. A little spendy but worth it. (btw) Im not bias but I instructed there and few their E90's for 5 years.

I'd also recommend Falcon Exec and Angel Air. I've been a renter from Falcon Exec for a couple years and know a couple of IP's there... seems like a good place.

Angel Air has a really nice fleet, I don't think they have anything older than 2002 or 2004, and have almost as many G1000's in their fleet as steam gauges. But, like Missed pointed out, they tend to be a bit more expensive.

As for Tailwind Flight Centre at CHD, I haven't heard too much good or bad about them, but know a couple of IP's there as well if you needed any more info.
