If you are based in philly do you have to pay the philly city tax even if you live out of state?

??? I'm based in PHL, do not live there, and am only paying into PA unemployment.. no "PHL city tax" or anything else unusual.

You could ask your employer what taxes will be withheld. I can't say for certain, but since the airport is part of the city, and workers are part of the City of Philadelphia Aviation Division, that even if part of it is outside city limits, the whole thing and all employees are required to pay the tax.

Hmm, interesting. What is the address of the office in PHL? I wonder if it is outside the city limits and if so if you are just considered transient workers, not unlike any other business man coming into the city for the day to do work but not based there. Nice way around paying the tax for you and your employer if so.

Sports players and others who come in for the day pay the city wage tax. I don't know about whether or not airline people who are based in PHL. I do know there is a return that can be filed for a refund for all days worked outside the city.

USAir mainline domestic will pay the tax. Not sure on Intl. "Pennsylvania Employee Unemployment Tax". Not sure how much % it is, but its just enough to tick ya off.

I do have the "Pennsylvania Employee Unemployment Tax" being taken out, but that's it. Oh, and it's about a dollar and some change per pay period. According to a payroll tax website, it's .07%. I don't think this is what the OP is talking about...

No, it's the City Wge Tax.

A city income tax? Screw that noise.
Yes it stinks. It's a wage tax on wages earned in the city for non-residents. Residents pay a slightly higher rate on wages earned regardless of where earned. In PA most municipalities have a 1% earned income tax for residents of the municipality as well (Philadelphia taxes paid offset it).

Ok, so you don't pay that 3.4% tax then?
