PEPC/Path question

You all have been great help thus far, but I have a few questions. I realize some of these items have been addressed before, but on an individual basis and I am looking for some advice for my situation.

I took my AT-SAT 3/08 and was notified a few days ago that I was being further considered for a position with Cleveland Center. Interestingly enough, Ohio was not on my geographic preference list when I applied (the opening was not location specific). HOWEVER, I only listed the first five locations, and the rest I put US - Throughout Nation.

So, my questions are...I imagine I was selected for Cleveland b/c the first five came up empty, and there was an opening in Cleveland. Is this true? Second, I was thinking of attending the PEPC during the week of May 19th. Is it most likely I could get all my stuff complete there quicker than doing it from home given the current date? And third, I feel I may be happier in a TRACON or tower (though never having worked a day of traffic in my life). Would the best decision be to go foward with what I have been given rather than not taking it and risk losing the opportunity? I have heard odds of transferring from a center to another center aren't great, much less going from a level 12 center to a tracon. Either way, I feel I would be happy, but just wanted some justification from you all!

What all you guys need to understand is the FAA is placing people where they need them. They have enough applicants that they can do that. You don't want to go where we tell you? Fine...back of the line.

Forget about transfering. Worry about getting your first rating. Chances are (if) you can get a transfer, it won't be for 10-15 years most likely.

As far as the PEPC, yes you will get it all done faster there than doing it the non-PEPC way. You have to first wait for the closest center to you to call you and interview you (pending OKC sends your name to them...like they forgot to do twice with me) which can take time. I've been waiting 4 weeks for a call for an interview...THEN they send you a package with a million things to get done ASAP. I wish I could go to the PEPC, but my Air National Guard obligations prevent that.

Hope that helps ya little.
