"Pinnacle will allow up to 1,000 hours credit to the Total Time requirement and up to 500 hours of credit towards the Multi-engine requirement. Above the 1,000 hour credit, Pinnacle will grant a one for one hour Pinnacle Hour Credit (up to a maximum of 1,500 hours) upon completion of the Pinnacle Captain Mentor Program (to be developed). "

As i understand the wording- 2500TT with 1000 at PCL...

Previous was 3000TT with 500 in type at PCL or 3500TT (off the street)..

We'll have to see what the "mentor program" is, too. I'm actually a little surprised they didn't lower them more. Suprised, yet glad. Glad they didn't lower it to ATP mins, but also glad b/c I'm now about 800TT away from upgrade instead of 1300. I'll have the 1000 at PCL before I've got the TT. Wonder if I can find a dirt cheap 152 on the side. :)

Here's how I understand it:

3500TT

Reduced to:

2500TT if you have 1000 hours at Pinnacle.

Within the next 60-90 days they will start a mentoring program. Where the FO must fly with a specific captain and be reccomended for upgrade. This lowers it to 2000TT if you have 1500 hours at Pinnacle.

I actually, as a present outsider, like the idea of a mentoring program. What would be better is, if it is with a number of captains instead of just one.

My guess (and this is just a guess, mind you) is that you'll have to have 2 or 3 different CAs that have flown with you X amount of times recommend you for upgrade. They can't really use check airmen for the mentoring program since we don't have enough to even go around training new FOs and upgrading CAs. The line guys won't want to do anything extra special without a bump in pay, and that's not gonna happen. So, I think it's gonna be up to the FOs to impress CAs enough that the CAs think they're safe enough to fly the airplane without being watched over. Essentially, I think it's a good idea. If a guy with the mins to upgrade under the mentor program wants to upgrade but can't fly to save his life, well, the CAs have some say-so in if he gets the thumbs up. Not sure if there will be any accountability on the CA doing the recommending's part, though. Otherwise, you wind up with the "yeah sure, whatever" CAs recommending anyone that asks.

No recent hull losses there.

True, but I honestly don't think PCL pays the insurace premiums since they don't own the airplanes. That's be NWA's call. Would they be willing to pay higher premiums to keep from having flights cancelled? My guess would be yes.

As for the hull losses, there's only been one. I don't see anyone screaming about Comair yet, and they've also had a hull loss. The overrun in TVC has yet to be determined if it was pilot error (I'm guessing it wasn't due to the history that airport has) AND the hull is probably not gonna be a loss. So, I'm guessing you're referring to 3701, 2 and a half years ago. I doubt we'll EVER live that one down.....
