PCC / Hillsboro Aviation

Does anyone who is attending or already completed the PCC / Hillsboro Aviation program have any info or some guidance on the matter? I am starting in about 6 months and can't wate, even though I am slightly hesitant to go for a career that seems so hit or miss.

NO replies yet....kind of a bummer, especially knowing that they just crashed a piper into a bonanza mid air that resulted in a fatality. I know that they have alot of international students there and people from the school seem to be progressing fairly well in their careers. I am just worried about there safety history involving the FAA and a few crashes.

Im the Flight crew SE center Veteran rep for PCC and have been flying in the program for almost a year and a half, what would you like to know.
also I can assure you that HAI is safe it was an accident.

I am just curious to how your experience is so far. Flight time, PCC professor quality, instructor quality, aircraft quality. How are the benefits working out so far? I am overseas right now so I will be trying to set everything up when I get back stateside to Virginia. My EAOS is in April, can I start class in May or June if I am back in Oregon by then? Is there any way I can take the Compass and/or entrance exam while I am still in Virginia. I have many more questions but I do not want to flood you with too many illegitimate ones.

experience so far is great. I have about 215 hours and have and interview with them monday for a CFI job.
PCC instructors are great and the support staff is as well.
cfis are great, most are from the North west but a few are from other places always willing to help and answer questions.
aircraft are in better shape that others in the area I have seen, MX is great about fixing small things on the spot and I would say that there have only been maybe 1-2 times that I was unable to get in a plane within 48 hours (we have a large fleet)

the VA is a different beast, so far I have only had 2 major issues with them and they were resolved within 2 months, I have heard some having no issues at all and some with a few more than me, its the government, so you should be use to it.
look at the PCC schedule online, the core classes for the degree are not offered every term so you will need to plan accordingly but it works out in the end being a little flexible. when you are able apply for benefits on VONAP as far as the compass test it is on a computer there, so my guess is that it needs to be done in person.
If you have college credit you may be able to skip this test by showing credits but this is a question for the testing office at PCC.

Other tips, if you can CLEP a math class or another core class that is accepted by PCC (call for ones they accept) this will make the program and flying go much easier.

some changes the OR state approving agency has made to our program really messed with the way I wanted to finish the program I will answer those in a PM if you would like.

Also try and get your second class medical (FAA AME not the bases flight surgeon) prior to starting the program.
there are online classes for about half the program so be ready for that, good computer, headset and mic and internet connection are required.
Thats all I can think of for now.

There was another crash couple of days back involving another hillsboro aviation aircraft in seattle. That's two now in 3 months. How much should this be a factor in considering your flight school. I've been planning on starting my flight training with hillsboro aviation but now i'm not too sure. These obviously are accidents and in most cases it comes down pilot error or a problem with the aircraft but is it something to worry about when you're deciding where to start your training?

Any advice would be helpful

Ehh I wouldn't worry too much. The two accidents were unrelated and very different. Just bad timing it seems.
