Paying for 50hrs multi. Looking for some options.

I am quickly approaching the rock bottom minimums to submit an application for airline X (1200TT & 100ME). At which point I will be able to get letters of recommendation and my resume dropped off by a few pilots in the company and it has been suggested that if there is hiring going on then I can pretty much count on getting an interview (and probably a job if I don’t screw it up).

I will actually have much more total time than is required, but at this point I need 40+ hrs of twin time just to hit 100hrs. I already have a flying job for the near future and I don’t plan on changing jobs until the airline calls. I have zero twin opportunities where I am so I am going to need to purchase a 50hr block of Seminole or Duchess time to get me where I need to be.

I need some suggestions for places that sell block twin time so I can start making a list of options. I do not want block time that involves half of it flying as a safety pilot. Any help would be appreciated.

If you want your Multi Engine time to really count in your logbook, do it in a Seneca. Our last 5 Instructors that applied for jobs, received offers largly based on the fact their Multi Engine time was not in a trainer.

Multi time is multi time. All light twins are essentially the same – underpowerd. I have 415 hours of Apache time ... do you really think someone is going to give me cr@p over the fact it's in a PA-23? I don't think so.

I just need the time. The aircraft will not matter in my case. I do want real PIC time and not safety pilot time so I have crossed Ari-Ben off the list for that reason. It is looking like I will have to spend a small fortune to get it done!

Does anyone know about Skymates in Texas? It is a banner ad I just looked at here at JC. They have early 80's IFR Seminoles for a block rate of $140 wet.

There's a place called Skyark... check out there website at www.skyark.com There you fly around animals around as a charitable contribution in a piper geronimo-- but you still have to pay for the time. It's not safety pilot time... but you have to fly with a flight instructor... so it would be all dual received. But, on the other hand, it's $23.00 an hour dry-- you provide the fuel, and there website says expect 16-20gph plus whatever oil you need. It'd work out to about $75.00 an hour-- not too bad-- plus you get to fly animals around (whether that's a positive or a negative-- I'm not sure-- personally, I like animals). I'm considering doing this to get me up to the 200 hour Multi mark as I've got 100 now.
 
huh... learn something new everyday. That sucks, I wanted to fly animals... oh well. I've got no good ideas then-- good luck

they sold their geronimo and bought a bus to transport the animals.
 
I've been looking at skyark.org (not com)'s website-- if you want to give up flying and take up bus driving-- this could be for you-- volunteer your time to drive an old bus across the U.S.
