Aloha,

This is my first time posting but I just passed my MEI ride and the CFI single engine add-on down at ATP in Vegas. I'm planning on doing the CFII ride up in Sacramento anyword on how the DPE's are up in Sac.

Yeah now thats the tough part right now. I'm on the job hunt with around 1500 hours and a little over 1150 dual given. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Also try posting a little about yourself in the General Topics area. This is a great place to network. I have an interview on Thursday this week thanks to a guy on here. That means my assumption is correct. For Initial CFI or initial CFII or initial MEI rating checkride, it may or may not be done by a FAA inspector. :rolleyes:

I think it is mostly up to the FSDO, or at least that was my impression after visiting with a DPE last week. Our FSDO is pretty adamant about using a fed for the initial.

Congrats on the passed rides! I'm working on my MEI initial right now...if the Seneca would ever get out of the hangar, it's been down for more than a month :(

I have a tacky question!

Can MEI initial and CFII checkride be done together at the same time same day?

you can do both in the same day yes. DEPENDING on the examiner they might do MEI oral first then move onto the CFII oral. When flying you can fly the multi first come back and swap planes for the CFII. But it can be done. Most likely the examiner will do one license first take a lunch come back and finish the second portion.

My next question is, as for the practical flight test portion, can MEI initial and CFII testing be done on the same twin-airplane?

Or,

Must the CFII practical test be done on the single engine airplane? :dunno:

The CFI certificate lists your instructional privilidges (e.g. Airplane, Single Engine, Airplane, Multi engine, Instrument airplane) You could certainly do the MEI and CFI-I in the same airplane, but you wouldn't be able to instruct in a single engine airplane until you did the single engine checkride- after which you could give instrument instruction in both single & multi engine.

Cadbury if you are doing the initial CFI in a twin, you would need a spin endorsement prior to the checkride saying you have been trained for spins/spin recovery.

Does the applicant need to do spin in a twin for the spin endorsement prior for the initial MEI checkride?
 
A spin training endorsement in a single engine airplane is all you need for the initial CFI regardless whether you're doing single engine or multi as your initial CFI. With the spin training endorsement, you won't do spins on the checkride.

Besides, most twins are not spin-tested and spins are prohibited in them
