Part 91 cargo?

Hi all, looking for a source or clarification on a subject someone asked today at work.

He buys an airplane...lets say a Saratoga.
He wants to go from ABC-XYZ each day.
An outside company wants to pay him to fly that airplane & supplies/cargo back and forth each day.
He thinks he's going to do 2 round-trips per day.
He's going to have 2-4 pilots.

I thought he would need a 135 cert. Am I mistaken?
Thanks for the help.

My sentiments as well. Maybe Lloyd's up, he's a sleepless knight as well.

I thought so, thank you. It indeed is a late one. Late CFI night x-country, transitioned into midnight coffee debrief.

Correct you're going to need to get a 135 certificate for that, which will take a year or two to get...or you could just buy somebody elses.

Or said company could buy an airplane, hire you to fly it and run the flight department. As long as you or the company never does any side work for an outside company or persons, you can do it all under part 91. If that's not an option for the company, then they would have to do it under 135 like others have said.

As an add on, if said company is transporting someone elses cargo, it is indeed a 135 opertion, even if doing it "for free."

If they are just "trucking/moving/delivering" their own stuff, they can so as suggested above.
