Pan Am International Flight Academy - KDVT

What commitment does the sign on bonus require? I'll have my CFI/MEI/CFII in February and do not plan on instructing at the school I attend. My cousin who is a DE in the area recommended PanAm as a good place to work but I don't plan on instructing for more than 6 months to a year.

The sign on bonus, like the training bonuses, require a one year commitment. You will receive the sign on bonus after completing the standardization class after your interview, but you will be required to repay it in the event you default on your contract.

Hope this helps.

Hey X-forces is JT still running the show at Pan Am? If he is, don't trust anything he says. He even tells your co-workers to lie on his behalf.

I worked at Pan Am DVT last year and they hired me for a permanent salaried job in the Korean Program. Low and Behold, as soon as my students finished up (old instructor went to Skywest) their commercial instrument multi course,--- Wam i am out of a job, ( about 3 -4 weeks) because they hired me full well knowing that no new students would be coming in the next group. I had just moved to Phoenix for this position.

Oh i was offered a lower paying position--pay per hour-- position teaching the Chinese, but couldn't make anywhere near the money to pay for the moving expenses, so i was out of there.

What a rip-off? to dangle a nice job out there and then replace

I would like to caution you regarding your libelous remarks. Unless you can prove your statements to be 100% true and correct (which you cannot), I would refrain from posting such untruths!!!

I personally know Keith and consider him a personal friend.

To even suggest that he'd lie for someone is an absolute farce, bro.

It's pretty easy to register for an internet forum and post anything under a pseudonym -- which is why I prefer to use my real name so if I made a crazy statement, at least I could put my name on it.

Seriously, if you've got concerns, call him up. If he gives you what you feel is a line of BS, email me and I'll call Keith myself.

United Flyers1,

Wow! That was some first post. Anyway, welcome to JC.

Well, J. Tardi is indeed still the chief flight instructor here at PAIFA. As far as running the show, well, he is one of many of the administrative staff responsible for PAIFA’s day to day operations.

Jim is nether my best bud, nor my enemy, he is the chief flight instructor. As far as not trusting him, I reserve my own opinion. I have worked in PAIFA’s administration for several months now, and I have worked very closely with JT. He certainly has a way about him, however I have never found anything he has had to say to be without truth or merit.

Now before I say anything further I want to go on record as stating that I am not on an ass kissing or PAIFA banner waving campaign. No institution is perfect, and we are no different. However, to call J. Tardi dishonest as sort of a blanket statement is not on. I have had several issues since I began attending PAIFA, many of which were addressed by Tardi, and I can say that I have been pleased with the outcomes. I regret that you might have felt that you have been lied to, however the situation you described in your post sounds like something that could have happened to anyone, in any career field.

I am not trying to make light of it, but I am just pointing out that crappy things happen in the workplace all the time, to everyone, so I would not believe that you were a specific target.

Lastly, I usually refrain from doing this but as you provided such vivid details in your post about what has happened to you I thought I might follow up on it and ask some of the CFIs that had been around for a while if the could recall your situation, and what actually happened.

I will only go as far as to say that there was immediate recognition of the situation, and of you, by many people here both in administration (Not including Tardi) and CFIs, and unfortunately I must tell you that I couldn’t find a single person that had a complementary thing to say. The people I spoke with knew nothing about this post (Most don’t even know what JC is) but they all remember you, so suffice to say that I will take your comments with a grain of salt.

Personally I don’t know you and I don’t have anything against you, but as far as my interactions with staff members here I will take them at face value until I have reason to do otherwise.

Thanks bro!

Damn, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now. Ahhh Gee! :D:D:D

Seriously though.

This sounds arrogant because it is, however most flight schools are far more afraid of me than they are an anonymous poster on an internet forum.

Seriously. Call Keith today! If he gives you a bullshizzle answer, email me and I'll call him myself. Just as for the tall guy with the "Lawguylin" accent.

I'm absolutely serious.

This reminds me of the good old days when the Pan Am forum was always on fire, and I was the only one defending the school. :rawk:

Doug,

Thanks for the support but there is nothing for him to call me about. He doesn't have a question of any type, he is someone who, in short, worked at PAIFA and believes he got raw dealed somehow.

He is not seeking employment, he's just a disgruntled ex-employee, which is fine. I sorry things didn't work out for him here, however it has no effect on what is going on now.

I am trying to get in CFIs, and this thread is focused at that target group, CFIs looking for employment.

I have already gotten more then my fair share of PMs from interested people, a few of which will be over for interviews shortly, so I guess I'm doing something right.

As far as people that have either worked, or attended, PAIFA, and things didn't work out so well, I am sorry but at the same time I am not overly concerned. I have a job to do.

Just let it go.
