Over Africa

Since his unceremonious departure from CNN in December after the network gutted its science & technology department, former aviation correspondent Miles O'brien has taken his journalism into the blogosphere.

His latest post reveals a new documentary done by he and his wife called Over Africa, capturing the work of Patty Wagstaff, John & Martha King and others as they travel to Africa to provide flight instruction to the grossly undertrained flying game wardens of the Kenya Wildlife Service. One can only imagine what sort of flight training these guys are given prior to being cut loose to spot poachers; O'brien points out that their accident rate is exceedingly high, which Wagstaff, the Kings, et al set out to do something about.

The documentary is being screened at Sun 'n' Fun this month, I hope it winds up online someplace.
