Hi, I'm rather new here and browse the forums occasionally but just registered today. Anyway I'm a senior in college and would like to try ATC and see if that works out instead of choosing to go into my actual field right of the bat. Long story short, when will I be able to apply? I don't see any trainee openings except the ones with CTI. Do they open frequently or is there anyway to tell? ...Or am I just not seeing them. Thanks.

P.S. I am looking on this page...
http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/Search...=134&FedEmp=N&FedPub=Y&caller=basic.aspx&ss=0
...I've added it to my favorites and check it daily.

Rumor has it that there won't be anymore PUBNAT openings for a while (that's the type that you can apply for).

Keep checking in on here in the Application Process sub-forum and you'll see people going nuts when PUBNAT9 finally arrives. Then, you'll apply at http://jobs.faa.gov

Good luck and be sure to have a good supply of patience, because this takes a LONG time.

Just a precaution -- this is not something you should "try"; due to the lengthy application process and amount of time you'll put in to training, you might want to make this be for the long haul.

Just a bit more rumor and conjecture to Swinte's post.....

The rumor around OKC is that PUBNAT 8 is the last pubnat for some time. Supposedly, there are over 10,000 applicants in the system as it is, and the FAA wants to drain that pool down before accepting more applications. These are not people with TOLs or anything, just people that have filled out the application.

Again, this is just what I've heard through the grapevine. So take it for what it's worth.

Well I used the term try meaning if I fail than I still have a college degree. If I can pass I would make a career of it.

Thanks for the replies but does not for a while mean like years or months does anyone have any idea? Thanks. When did the last one close?
