Those Piper Sports look just like the Evektor I have most of my time in (40 hours). I loved flying it. Very easy to fly.

Wish I could head over, but I am in Iraq for a little while.

Good luck!

I was in Orlando today and went by Orlando Gateway during their open house. It's a nice facility. They have 3 of the light sport planes and all are new. Two of the planes are low wings and they have a high wing aircraft as well.

I took one up and it flew very nice. Figured I wouldn't get to fly a plane for $69 again anytime soon! It was low wing and there was plenty of room. Much better than the DA-20. The baby does want to fly. It climbed at about 700 feet a minute. The stick is ultra sensitive and that might take some getting used to. It much more sensitive than the Diamonds. It was easy to trim out and keep in steady flight once you are up. I did a 360 the first time without any problem and with no loss of altitude. The plane was easy to control and did what you wanted it to do. This was my first time in a light sport and it looks like they have tried to idiot proof it as much as possible. Looks like Piper made a great move with these planes.

I've never seen an all light sport plane training facility before and you know it's not a bad idea. This is probably about as cheap as it gets for flight time in a newer aircraft. Hopefully it will help get some people into flying.
Let's wish these operators a lot of luck. The facility has been open for about a year. They hanger the planes. That hanger was spotless!

Thanks for posting this on JC. I would never have known otherwise.

Hey Joe, what did you think overall of the Pipersport? I've been thinking about trying to find one to get some time in, just to see how it flies. What kind of useful load did this one have? And, if this was your first experience with the Rotax, what did you think of it?

Thanks Joe for the great review!! I'm glad you could make it out! And KS your looking at a useful load of 560 lbs for the Piper Sport. It really is a great aircraft to fly I personally love it. If you want you can come on down to Kissimmee for a discovery flight I would be more than happy to take you up to see how she handles.

Thanks for the replys guys!

I like the Piper Sport. I think it's a great way to begin flight training. I also think the Piper Sport is a good economical plane to rent for a cross country flight.

The high RPM as the only thing that took a bit of getting used to.
