An Orca Airways pilot has been fired for overshooting a Tofino B.C. runway, and not reporting the error to the airline.

"He got the aircraft down and everybody was pretty relieved, but you know, after a while it set in that this could have killed us," said Denis McMullen.

The McMullens — Denis and his wife — were two of six passengers on the flight from Vancouver to Tofino in September 2015.

An "Over Run".

I've been wondering if there were tire tracks going off into the field or did he simply use the paved overrun.

Maybe he damaged the EMAS? Could a Navajo taxi on but not break through the EMAS?

Reminds me of the story of the Skywest Metro crew who landed at the wrong airport...then just took off and pretended nothing happened. Good times.

Cool new livery for Orca, their Navajos were pretty bland looking when I shot a few in YVR years back.

I didn't even consider that 99's may still be hauling people.

There's a carrier in the Caribbean that flies them. I think I'd lose it with that callsign... "humming bird" haha

Aw, heck. The Navajo is made for off-roadin'!
In Canada, the gravel and weeds at the end is just the extended threshold, eh?

THIS IS WHY WE DON'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
I love Canada. The Canadians are so polite and so practical. Even from Canada's inception they have been thus, eh.
Back in the day, before the young nation had a name, the Prime Minister took the bull by the horns and decided upon a fair, equitable, completely unbiased, and perfectly expedient means of naming the new country.
"I'm gonna pull random letters out of a hat, you hosers," he boomed to Parliament. "Here I go!"
Before the assembled dignitaries, the PM reached into the hat and pulled out the letters that would form the new name. He called them out in order so all could hear...
"C, eh!
N, eh!
D, eh!"

Oceano

Checkairmen giving IOE repeatedly ignoring FO telling him it's the wrong airport.

Actually, the real truth of how we got out name is funnier than any joke. The French explorers misunderstood the Natives.
