Well, it's official. I served my last day in the Navy yesterday and am now on my last vacation days for the next month +. My wife and I are moving to Florida and I'm hoping to find my next job, be it instructing still /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif, or moving up the "chain" into the corporate world. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Good luck to everybody out there (Braidkid, give me a call and let me know what happened) that's interviewing or working on ratings and I'll update as I get my life back together in the sunshine state.

By the way, for those of you wondering, the forecast Monday & Tuesday (packing day) are for a cold front and Tropical Storm to be meeting up right here in this forsaken place /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif some call Rhode Island...I can't wait to leave here, and just deal with hurricanes and normal "baby" thunderbumpers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you for your service and good luck! Where here in Florida are you guys moving?

good luck on your move and keep us posted!! Congrats on your "retirement" and enjoy the vacation!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you very much for your service!

I'm right behind you... only 2 years and 10 months! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck in your job search... let us know what you find... I'll be interested to hear!

Hey Congrats My brother! Enjoy terminal leave. It is so nice to get paid from Uncle Sam while doing no work.

Good Luck on the job search!

BJ, we're moving to JAX to begin off, then wherever the jobs take us. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Thanks for the well-wishes and I'll keep everybody updated if/when I get a job.

Yeah, not the best time to move, but can't wait to get out of here. We'll be down in FL by Friday or Saturday (timing the hurricane) but will be hit during our packing. The last shot from New England weather.

Computer's going off now, but I'll write soon.

Is this a statement about terminal leave or his Military career? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: On to a new life...and still alive!

Well. just to update people...we took our time driving down, trying to avoid the hurricane and ended up having it wait for us to arrive. We pulled into Jacksonville on Saturday evening, visited with in-laws, etc. Some family was without power Sunday afternoon, and we ended up losing power Sunday evening. My in-laws luckily have a generator, so we took turns plugging our refrigerators in and saving our food, along with about 1/4 of the block. We hunkered down and avoided the tornadoes, and were lucky in that we have very few tree limbs down and no damage to the house we're in or anybody else's house that we know.

We finally had power restored Wednesday night, and have been doing a lot of fixin' up, getting ready to finally receive our moving truck, turning in car dollies, etc. over the last few days. Our truck, unfortunately is still in North Carolina, since they won't come in until we find out what Ivan will do, so we have just a few outfits and are debating what we'll do with this next hurricane...debating on moving to Texas now, but feel the hurricanes will just follow us. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

So, we'll continue to get ready to move in until this next hurricane gets closer and we'll make a decision then, so if you don't see me on here again, we are probably away from a computer for a while. As a side note, the people across the street STILL don't have power and are using our generator until they get power back or we lose ours again.

Re: On to a new life...and still alive!

Okay, quick update as Monday Night Football is on...

We have finally finished our vacation...took a cruise, had a great drunkfest and got to see my 8 month old nephew again. Had another hurricane and some remnants of an old one come through, and finally started looking for jobs.

I am totally depending on flying for food now and was hired as a CFI with a fairly new company here in JAX with very good possibilities. I'll be starting Monday, so we'll see how busy they can keep me.

The ultimate goal is to get to 2000TT and 500ME and go charter, then on to corporate, so we'll see if I can get any multi time...resumes are still out there with cargo companies and still not totally turning them down, but I've gotta get over the 1200TT mark.

As a side note, anybody that wants to come to JAX and do an accelerated PVT or INST, PM me and we'll see what we can do.

Now THAT'S marketing! Good job and welcome to the fold!

Success as a CFI, in my opinion, is at least 50% marketing your services.

Any tips on that? Not for me, I'm a LOOOOONG way away from that. But for guys who are newly minted CFIs.

Re: On to a new life...and still alive!

I think I can start a course on it now (marketing)...I've written it in the past...I feel like a used car salesman, but I think I do a good job once I am actually teaching and that's what brings them (students) back!

Re: On to a new life...and still alive!

As a side note, Doug, I need to update my info on the find an instructor page...I'll PM you so it's not like I'm advertising out in the open.

One other lesson for the CFI's, get your name on as many web pages as possible...I actually had 2 students from web pages...sorry, Doug nobody from here yet, but met numerous people who can help later and who I will help later if possible.

Re: On to a new life...and still alive!

I'll be down in Jacksonville in December checking out ATP and visiting a friend. I'll shoot you a PM when I get a little closer to the trip and maybe we can hook up for lunch or something.

Seriously, call when you're in town and we'll do lunch/dinner/BEvERage whatever is appropriate.

Let me know when you're down here and who your instructor is...I know people who know people!
