'on duty' employees at security

So far 100% of the time I've nonreved out of uniform, when the agent has seen my badge they give me a 'wtf' look and ask why I didn't just go through the employees' line.

I thought the line was for on duty employees only - is there some kind of etiquette to reserve that line for on duty employees or can I just go straight to the front every time, uniform or not?

It's probably for on-duty employees but I, uhh, always use the employee line myself.

SLC is the only airport I've seen where the employee line says something about "uniformed crew" or "on duty employees." In ATL and MSP I use the employee line regardless.

yup, doug will wisk both of us through there actually when we're trying to catch a non-rev flight. it really depends if you know the staff there or not.

From my experience, it depends on the airport.

I'm not even an employee of any airline or anything close to being on duty with anyone when I exploit this, but my SIDA badge takes me to the front of the line every time I travel! I'd be surprised if the people who work there would notice the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground, let alone the part of my badge that reads "GA-TIEDOWN".

P.S. Did you know that SIDA means "AIDS" en Français y español?! :insane:

I always commute in the moron bait ... err, "uniform." But I'll use the employee line in civies because I'm, well, an employee.

But I do try to us common sense if it looks backed up and there are a lot of uniformed folks in line I'll use a different line (if I'm in civies or whatnot).

I've had screeners direct me to the employee line when they ask for my ticket and I show them my badge. Most times when I'm travelling with my wife they tell us both to head to the employee line.

iwonder if i can use the employee line in civvies with my arm in a cast. maybe i should go in uniform to freak out some pax!

I use the Employee line when I travel on my own, out of uniform because I dont have a monkey suit. Then the family comes I just go to the regular line. Of course my home airport does not have an employee line.. You hve to hsk the ID checker to let you through the rope.

I've always use the..uhh employee line whenever I can. Here at CVG we have a turnstyle agreement that we can use the turnstyle to bypass security screening. If you have a bag they'll visually search it. It's just for employees and you have to sign form. There is a CVG employee and flightcrew line that I use when traveling with my family. Heck I was using the employee line at MCO when I was working at DCA!

i work for a 135 company and have a badge that doesnt say anything about a company name or home base or anything, its just a NATA badge. I use the crew line in uniform or not
