$ on a metar graphic?

What does the Dollar Sign ($) Next to DEN signify?

Maybe this is something I should know, but I don't recall.

It's key to know if it is a symbol, or was it an actual $ sign in a METAR?

If it's a symbol, that looks like a $ sign in a graphical representation of a METAR, then yes. . .it's what bdhill stated.

If it is a true $ in a text METAR, then the obs is unreliable as the station needs maintenance.

There is a difference.
