So..for those going to OBAP in August..little confused with the process this year. We get a priority number at Checkin, but from what I understand, we'll have no clue as to when that number is good for until we show up. So basically we need to be there on day 1 and plan on staying all 3 days? Am I understanding this correctly? Not a fan.

"Looks good, just keep doing what you are doing". "Go get some check airman time"'. "I don't know why you haven't been called yet". There, you have just been to OBAP without the waste of time, money and mental anguish. You're welcome.
But the points! He won't get those golden points if he doesn't go.

Im about 80% in planning on attending.

It"ll be my first and yes its confusing all around. Im assuming the amount of interest this time around wont be nearly what it used to be, so maybe theyll run through the numbers and then its first come first serve?

If I do go I plan to come in the morning of the 9th and then leave afternoon of the 11th.

What I found was that deals werent made during business hours. Most of the people I met were hanging out afterward.

Even if you were considering your professional portability, you don't need a resume. The power of positive networking.

So you're saying just come to the hotel bar ready to buy the first few rounds? In all seriousness I'm thinking about coming. I was able to get the time off but I'm sitting at 2200hrs 1000 121 SIC. I finish my degree up at the end of August. Is it worth it to go to the career fair itself with such low times? Or just wait until the next in house job fair, and avoid getting laughed out the door by the recruiters.

Eh, you're thinking about it wrong.

If you want to network, make the connections on a personal level before you really need them.

Scenario A: (Roughly paraphrased)
"I want to work for (company) but I don't quite have my (requirements) completed yet"
"Ok. Well good luck!"

Scenario B: (Roughly paraphrased)
"I have a lot of interest in working for (company) and I'm rapidly working on meeting the requirements, do you mind if we keep in contact because I have a lot of questions about working at (company) and I'd really appreciate any guidance you can give"

Remember, who you are, where you are, what you're after and make it actionable

Isn't there a recruiter out there somewhere that got "the pitch" from a candidate while standing at a urinal in a bathroom?

Moral of the story, know thy place and don't be that overly aggressive. Let a man take a piss or dump in peace.

And if you slide the resume under the restroom door and hear a paper crinkling sound, the chances of it being read while pooping are slim.
Point being, use heavier stock glassy paper. Slides better. Less useful for other things.

If the working conditions and pay in the regionals weren't as craptastic as they are, people wouldn't have to resort to such unimaginable tactics. I can't think of any other profession with the exception of liberal arts professor candidates where people are so desperate to get a job where they are paid what they're worth.

Umm, no.

Working conditions at the regionals are not an acceptable excuse for someone not knowing how to act.

Personally, I would avoid having my first contact with "The Dream Maker" at my target airline be a lapse in judgement...

It's so awwwful here, I mean, the hotels are clean and nice and I only get 1 bottle of water whenever I want one and sometimes I even have to put down my crossword and get my own stupid ginger ale.

Swing by the Sun Country booth and say hi! I'll be staffing it on the 10th for sure and should be in on the 9th and 11th as well.

I'd love to meet some JC'ers in person, although preferably not in the bathroom. :-)

Will
