Has anyone heard of O&S Aviation out of Siler City, NC? The website http://osaviation.com/ contains basic info but I'd like to hear about training experiences from past students. I'm interested in earning my single/multi commercial.

Where do you suggest staying while training? What was the daily schedule like? What did you think of the instructors and the quality of instruction? How many hours did you log? How far in advance did you schedule your training? Is the price quoted on the website the actual price you pay for training? How did you handle transportation to/from the hotel and airport? Any info is much appreciated!

ODF,

I did my comm multi add-on with them in October. I went down for a weekend and I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. The training was very efficient, and my instructor (Lee) was a super nice guy and a good instructor. Their Twin Comanche was in good condition, and is a great plane to do this rating in. The weather was perfect, which helped.

We started at 9am on Saturday, did an hour or so of ground, and flew for 3.5. We finished up around 3, and I headed to Raleigh to grab dinner and do some spotting at RDU.

Sunday, we started at 9 again, and flew for 2.5 and ended up at Asheboro, where their DE flies a Citation III out of. The DE wanted to squeeze my checkride in between two of his own flights, so shortly after lunchtime we were standing over the wing of the Citation doing my oral. The flight portion was about an hour, and by 3pm I was in my car heading back to Richmond.

As for Siler City, there isn't much there to speak of, but it's only a 20-25 minute drive to Chapel Hill. I stayed at the Days Inn in Siler City, but there was a Country Inn or something across the street that was newer, and I think it was cheaper on Expedia. The Days didn't have free wifi (or I couldn't connect to it), which wasn't a huge deal as I found a Panera Bread in Raleigh and did my 8710 there.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend them. Let me know if there are any other questions you have.
