November 29 Stans Class

I have heard great things about Keller, hopefully I'll be ok Im going to be using the rest of the weekend to review and memorize the procedures and then monday or tuesday I will go do some dry time and perhaps gemini a flight or two if possible.

As far as the multi, I need to look into it I guess, if part 61 MEI course offers about 10 hrs I would still be short by about 4 hours which isnt too bad. thanks for the help and feedback guys.

I guess I'm not getting the whole picture. All you need is 5hrs PIC in make and model teach in any particular multi. You will get that with the MEI training and stan flights. I don't think FSI requires a certain amount of multi time to instruct in the Seminole. When I went through stans, they required 100hrs dual given (single engine) before you can teach in the multi.

I think nuneez is referring to the 15 PIC hours required in the class and category of the aircraft that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating being sought (61.183(j)) For example, getting a commercial multi add-on and having only 1.0-1.5 hours on the check ride being PIC. Thus, the 10 hours with FSA, plus the 1.0-1.5 on the check ride would put him 4 hours short of the 15 hour PIC requirement for the MEI certificate.

Hey guys, I have a quick question, Im studying the systems on the Cadet off the PIM, does flight safety have their cadets equipped with A/C or just the cabin air blower?

It's been a while since I've flown the cadet, but I believe it just has the overhead vent/blower. I wish they had A/C. You will too when you are practicing pattern work on a 95 degree day in July. :)

The PU Warriors don't even have an overhead vent installed.

haha, man sounds painful, definitely going to enjoy the cold weather while it lasts. wow not even an overhead vent, so pretty much you are drowned in sweat during the summer.. oh man, so much for the nice uniform.

I see. Well, with the MEI course plus the stan flights. I'm sure you'll get the time you need.

Soonerpilot06, it appears you still don't quite understand the need for PIC time. Allow me to attempt to explain it one more time. As Aviator83 stated, in 61.183j you need 15 hours of Multi PIC PRIOR to taking your MEI checkride. This obviously means that the potential time from stan flights will not be able to be counted toward this amount as I know for a fact that FSA is going to want him to have his MEI certificate prior to starting MEI stans. The only thing the stan time could be useful for is the 5 hours in make and model (separate issue).
Additionally I am sure Nuneze23 does not want to pay the exorbitant Flight Safety rates by taking the 61 MEI course hence the fact he wants to split cheap time just to get the check in the box, get an endorsement from a friend and take the ride.

You are right, no AC in any of our planes regrettably ... especially in July

Thanks. I just didn't bother to read it when he posted. It's been a while since I completed my CFI. I only read those FARs when the need arises.

No problem, just wanted to make sure you understood ... FARs can be a little confusing from time to time

Nuneze23 good luck tomorrow

I understood what Aviator83 posted. I'm just too lazy to look it up. :) BTW, I started multi stans while waiting for my MEI ride. They were hurting for MEIs.

Cheers

haha thanks for the good wishes Moose, and sooner, I definitely agree with Moose, those darn FAR's can be so confusing at times.. another real quick question guys =), are there any standard call outs that flight safety requires? (i.e engine instruments in the green, airspeed alive, Vr rotate and blah blah blah) I couldn't really find that in their standardization manuals, I know my old school had a huge load of them, I just dont want to show up and add un-necassary call outs, I do not want Keller to think Im trying change the flightsafety way or show off by any means. thanks boys! ya'll been a great help! Im gonna have to treat you all that have helped me for a drink or something. :p if I pass that is ;)..

As long as you're current and can TEACH the maneuvers while flying the aircraft to PTS, you'll be fine. The initial stands ride is really not that bad.

As far as call-outs, when I did my stands ride I said all MY usual call-outs and A.H. never corrected me for saying them my way. However, I think at this level of flying, most call-outs to what you're referring to are generally the same regardless of where you did/do your training.

Again, good luck on Wednesday!

As far as call outs are concerned, I don't think the 141 side has any specific call outs. They do emphasize opening and closing checklists. As I'm sure AH told you, anything that is "boxed" on the checklist is a memory item. Good luck tomorrow.

As was said the big thing they are looking for is your ability to simultaneously fly and teach. I also just did my own call outs, which in this size aircraft seems to be pretty standardized already.
Good luck!

thanks guys for the good wishes! I passed the flight today with C.K =) it went pretty good, I need a little bit more work on my lazy 8's but overall it went well, he was happy I knew the procedures/checklist as well as I did, and I used google earth to help me familiarize myself with the airspace and that alone helped a bunch! he was also very happy I talked a lot..lol.. I pretty much talked every chance I got even for the smallest thing, these qualities overshadowed my crappy lazy 8, Im going to take the rest of the week to attempt once again to gemini a flight or two... thanks again guys for all the help, couldn't have done it without ya'll!

Congrats! I'm glad it went well. When will they assign you students?

they said as early as wednesday, I still have that last written test before anything is final, hope I pass that. lol.
