Problem Notifications

Not sure if I had fat fingers and turned something on or off, but I am getting notifications for when a new thread is started. I checked my alert preferences and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I only like notifications for threads I commented on, or someone tagged or quoted me. Any tips?
