Nonreving to HNL or CUN in June?

So I feel like I already know the answer, at least about Hawaii, but how are the loads usually that time of year for either in early June or maybe even late May?

My gf, her sister, and her mother really want to go to Hawaii for a week, gf and I are SD2E on American and US, her mom and sister would be guests so SD3G. I told them it would be a poor idea at least to Hawaii, especially seeing as it would be on her moms timeshare booked awhile in advance so the days aren't real flexible. Based on hearing consistently flts in and out of HNL seem to be full a lot and bustling with non-revs usually, but figured I'd still ask.

11 total flts to try for HNL, 31 total flts to attempt for CUN each per day.

Thoughts?
 
Be willing to seperate and send the others in your party ahead of you, and if it's traditionally very full, good luck getting a buddy pass (D3) on.
 
I'd suggest checking the dates for RIMPAC 2015. I've non-revved to HNL in both May and June. My most successful strategy was to leave the West Coast on the first flight out, before connecting passengers arrived. Everyone seems to leave HNL at night, so consider an early morning departure.

RIMPAC is every 2 years. Won't be happening until 2016.

Morning flights generally are better, especially out of LAX and SEA which caters to connections, as opposed to places like OAK, SAN and PDX which are more O and D traffic. That said, any given day can suck, and any given day can be open.
 
Yeah RIMPAC sure confuses the weather radar out there. Be prepared to connect to LIH or somewhere similar to get home!
 
Almost every time I've tried to get to or from HNL, I've had to non-rev to a different island and buy a ticket from there to HNL.** Kahului Maui (OGG) is usually more open, but I think I have been to all the Hawaiian airports. Buying a Hawaiian, Mokulele, or Island air ticket is usually pretty cheap.

I'll just throw this out. If you're in CASS, UPS has two flights a day from ONT to HNL and one to KOA. Very few jumpseaters and all can take at least 4. Most have bunks, even.
 
I took brown ONT to HNL and back in feb and that is the way to go! Great crews and they said to spread the word. But HNL and Cun are places you go in winter, not summer. Especially CUN.
