Non Accredited Pt61 Advise Needed

Friends,

At that point ready to take the plunge. Graduated this semester with a non-related degree and am mading plans to start training in April.

I prefer to attend a smaller school with individual attention and older planes, rather than paying a hefty premium for a 'guarenteed job and glass cockpits'.

Question is... what options if any have you folks used to get a loan for a non accredited part 61 school that the loan companies cannot approve. It is sad the dream comes down to money, so I will really take to heart any advise.

P.S. I have already heard the 'don't finance flight training speech'... :) I have decided living lean for a bit is worth it, never had money to compare it too anyway.

What do you mean by "Non-Accredited"

Part 61 schools require no "accreditation"

Do you mean not affiliated with a collegiate program?

That was my question too. Are you saying that there is a part 61 school you want to go to but you can't get a training loan there? If that's the case I'd look for another school that can meet that need and get you a loan.

The part 61 school I want to go to is not affiliated with a college program and they can get loans for training.

Sorry for the confusion... The school is not affiliation with any college programs or any banks for financing. I have been striking out everywhere I call for a loan. I have a good co-signer, and I have good credit for my age, I'm 23 and am just a hair shy of that 700 score. Pulling out my hair lately because this is such a major hurtle, I just keep positive that there is a golden solution out there :)

I saw aopa will lend up to 25,000... that is the best thing I have seen yet.

Thank you again all for the replies

Some smaller schools offer "pilot finance" program for individual ratings, and sallie mae career training loan can be used for a small school for both part 141 or 61 training.

Dont equate pt 141 with "accredited". Key loans require us title iv accredidation as does sallie mae, but sallie mae has as subsidiary that offers a career loan based on creditworthiness, that some smaller schools have.

If you want personal attention, family like atmosphere and finance options, i would look into Europe American Aviation in naples Florida. I did a rating there and worked there for a while. The only problem in your scenario is that they only have brand new diamonds, not old cessnas.

If that isnt convenient, look around. There are options.
