No More Continental Express!

Nope, I didn't leave ExpressJet! Just finished my last day, for what will likely be a while, in the Continental Express system. No more Newark ground stops or 170-knot double-downwinds to Cleveland. I'll be San Antonio based now, flying those teal and red painted airplanes around trying to make this thing successful. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I feel pretty lucky to be flying for our own banner operation.

Drinkin' the kool aid? Nah. I'm sniffin' the stuff right now. No point in diluting it. I guess you could say I'm "cautiously optimistic" about our branded stuff, but I wanted to fly in the system to get some west coast experience and the chance to bust my ass for my company.

It really feels like I have a new job! Anyways, not really a big deal, but it is a big change and pretty exciting. So if you live in TUL, OKC, AUS, or any of those other big focus cities, I might just have a few hours to kill. ;) Especially in TUL it seems... at least for May...

Awesome!!! Good luck to you and all the other XJT pilots on making this thing a success! If everyone else has the same character as you, things should happen.

Congrats!

And uhh, stay away from Casa Rio on the RiverWalk! :)

Welcome to the party...

I was never part of COEX except for OE and dove head first into ExpressJet Airlines. It's been great and the customer feedback has been very positive. :)

Did I just get a tip? :D

Cactus_Cutter, good you were never part of the CoEx side, because you don't know what you're missing regarding trip trading and online schedules. ;) That stuff should be worked out soon though. I'll see you in the system!

Congrats!

I jumpsat (in the cabin) on one of the Aqua-fresh airplanes last week--it surprised the heck out of me! I thought that all of Captain Bob's gushing about comfort and service had to be BS because hey, it's still an RJ, right?

That was seriously the most comfortable coach-class seat I've ever sat in, the service was great, and I was like, WTF? I get food for free? The crew was super-friendly, too. I really hope it works out for you guys--I think it's a great use of 50-seat RJ's. I know a lot of people who are pretty excited about the city pairs that are getting served, too.

I hope you get to do some of the CA flying--buzzing up and down the state all day is a lot of fun. Good luck!

Yeh, I hope they are able to accept my PMR in Office 2007 format...

hope it works out...got a couple friends headed there and a couple going out to cali.

I've heard the lines out of Cali are pretty nice...hope its the same in san anton.
Exciting times!

I'll see you there......and no more reserve to boot. You're talking to SAT's most junior lineholder (at least on the CA side), which means I sat reserve for a whopping 2 months after upgrade....not too shabby (although it would've been indefinite had I stayed in houston).

Yeah, it sure is nice to be a lineholder Captain. Only problem is, I think people are going to "catch on" to how nice it is in the branded system, and they'll make their way over from Houston. Hopefully the difficulty of commuting will keep them away.

Right now my line value is at 90 hours with 14 days off... perfect for grabbing up a 10-hour two day trip to bring me up to 100. Going to try for that for the remainder of 2007... Did you get a pretty good line, or did you get the only one with 12 off?

Captain_Bob will be there too... Uh oh, the XJT contingent of JetCareers is all converging on one base! :D

Yep! Just got home from my last 4-day on the COEX side!

I cleaned out my V-file... turned it in to the Chief Pilot's office... picked up my latest revisions... and... I was outa there! ;)

This was actually a nice trip... I had a 16 hour overnight in Portland, Maine and that was a fantastic way to finish up my last 4-day. I will miss flying in the Northeast and getting overnights in New England and Grand Rapids MI (Hometown). But... I am totally stoked about getting over to the branded side.

May 2nd... my first leg out of SAT is a DeadHead to ONT! LOL! Guess I'll get to see what the passengers see before I actually fly them around! ;)

See ya on the other side FlyChicaga! :)

I've attached a few pics of this past trip...

1. Sitting on the rocks enjoying the surf down at the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
2. Great shot of the tail in the morning twilight at PWM... I'm going to frame this one or maybe number 3.
3. Another shot with the PWM tower, ExpressJet Logo, and the tail... This was pretty cool since PWM is where I got my Private license... :)
4. Departing Newark for the last time in the forseeable future... you can see the runways just left of the winglet.

I haven't been following the branded flying stuff. Just an honest question if the pay is the same what is the hype all about?
