New vs old PHAK, FOI, etc

Hey y'all,

I'm getting back into the CFI route, but I notice that there are new editions of the PHAK, AIH, Gleim FOI (even AFH?) and I didn't know if it is all the same material with a few additions, or are they essentially new books? If I don't need to buy ~5 new books right from the start, that would be nice, but of course, if they've been redone with nice, pretty pictures and such, maybe I should go ahead and get them.

Thanks, everyone. Get used to seeing me around here a LOT more! Ha

Yes they are, but man do I hate reading them on the computer. I just bought them anyway.

and also reading them online is a good way to figure out if the book is good enough to warrant buying a paper version. especially if you already have one of the older versions.

And don't forget the new aviation wx services book. Now with double the number (400) of stimulating pages!

The new FOI is, from an pedagogical standpoint, equally as dated and useless as the former. Get the free pdf.

The new Weather Services and PHAK are pretty decent.
