new TSA FTSP final rule

Looks like the TSA have made their interim rule final after ~20 years.
Not that I do any teaching, but did get an invite to a webinar last night.

Unsure how/who I would designate a security co-ordinator (freelance CFIs?)
Good to see Global Entry membership reducing fees, but given foreigners are on a visa it makes little difference.
Also one background check lasting for 5 years vs needing 5 checks for 5 ratings helps.

Anyone else attending the webinar on 16 May?

An interesting seminar - key takeaways

During July there will be a transition from 1 year security threat assessments to 5 years. You can have multiple training events during that time.
TSA security training for CFIs etc will transition to a 2 yearly requirement from November
ID verification for US citizens remains unchanged. Record-keeping requirements are unchanged,
There is a requirement to designate a security co-ordinator but that can be the same as the provider admin for independent CFIs.

This is a much better arrangement for foreign students, as I did 5 assessments for 5 separate ratings back in the day.
All in all it went pretty well for a Teams call of 250 CFIs...:smoke:
