Hi everyone,

My name is Catherine and I've finally registered and decided to say hello. I've been lurking around the last couple of months reading and watching the boards. I'm currently a student pilot and like many on the boards here, I'm looking at going to a flight school and then pursuing a career in aviation. I'm seriously looking at going to Ari-Ben for my training based upon what I've read here and from my talks with several flight schools.

Right now I have just over 70 hours of flying (I had to stop twice about 12 years ago due to money and other things and since I've started back recently I've lost 2 instructors to other jobs) and I'm really looking forward to finally finishing up my private and moving on to the rest.

I just wanted to say that I'm really happy to have found this forum, it's been a great help and helped me to find insight into a lot of flying schools that I've looked at. Flying is something that I've been in love with since I was very young and it's something I've always wanted to do.

I guess that's all for the moment, glad to be here!

Thanks everyone....and rats...I just noticed I posted this under General rather than Member Announcements....so much for me trying to hurry and post before I left work!!! lol

Well, I'm a member on several sites and I work at a place where I'm one of just a few girls, so I'm quite used to the regular welcome the guys give me :-)

BTW, I guess I'm not up on that particular acronym, I couldn't begin to tell you what my a/s/l is....although I have a pretty good guess about a couple of them.

And thank you Kristie! Always good to see another woman in aviation! Speaking of which, I had really been hoping to get my PPL with Mama Bird, Evelyn Johnson, who lives only about an hour from here. She's super sweet and has more hours than virtually anyone else in aviation. Unfortunately she lost her medical earlier this year, but hey, 95 years old is still a pretty good run!

If at all possible, just go sit with her and ask questions. It'll be an opportunity that you'll always treasure.

And welcome!

Ya dont need a medical to flight instruct anyone but initial certificates (i.e. sport, rec or private). But if all she was doing was privates then that'd be a problem.

Welcome.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome.

Well, Evelyn Johnson has been an FAA designated examiner for years, I'd really hoped to get my checkride with her, just about too far to drive frequently for lessons. I have gotten to speak with her in the past and know quite a few pilots who did checkrides with her and have heard those stories too. Yes SteveC, I definitely plan to get back down there and chat with her before I move, she still manages the airport in Greeneville, TN here so far as I know. Truly a chance to talk with someone who is such a part of aviation.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Catherine
