New program at MAPD: PLUS

Just noticed this over at MAPD's website: PLUS program

Looks kind of fishy to me. At least with PACE you're paying for the opportunity to get hired by an airline with only 300 hours, but this looks like you're just shelling out $6000 for an interview. What do you all think?
 
ATP has the same program for 2,995 with no interview, so I guess that guaranteed interview with Mesa is worth 3 grand to some people.
 
PLUS is pretty much the last part of PACE (which is pretty much the last part of ab-inito). I think it's been around for about a year or so.
 
you can also get the guaranteed interview with Mesa by doing their $1,169 ATP rating.

Why would anyone want to do PACE when they could do PLUS for cheaper with the same results??

Has it? It says on the site that it was only recently approved by mesa and that the first ever class is in august.

Yeah, I guess $6000 (or $3000 like you said) for an interview might be worth it to some people, but it sucks that its coming to that...
 
They were pushing it at Sun N Fun, and I thought I saw something about it when I was in Farmington last October. Maybe it was still being finalized then. Either way, I don't have 1500 hours, so it's a moo point.
 
for about 5k cheaper too. Maybe if you under 23 years of age??

What a waste of money. Don't do it, that's all I have to say. We all burn through so many thousands of dollars of cash to get to an interiew, but this is nonsense.

Personally, I advise against spending cash anywhere for a "glass cockpit" type class. Every regional airline will teach you in their groundschool how to do this. Dropping 6 grand on this program (for example) is a waste because if Mesa hires you, guess what ... you do it all again.

Save the cash, folks. Keep it in the bank. You'll need it to get through your first year as an FO somewhere.
