New OTS Listing - Nationwide

Found this last night, and applied this morning! :nana2:

Yeah, pay isn't what it used to be, but honestly, you see n00bs complaining about low FO pay, then you get others saying entry level pay should be appreciated.

So, in conjunction with todays (non) economic situation, 40K for a starting salary ... and they pay for your training ... yeah, it's not what it "should" be according to some, but I'd say, including all the guvment bennies, it's a pretty darned good deal.

Yeah, good luck. I'm starting around 36k and for me, this is more than double what I've ever made flying. If you're used to living on peanuts, it won't be bad. I'll be in the 50-60k range once checked out. It is a shame though, compared to what it used to be. I'm not complaining...yet.

You already through OKC?

Would it be all right to apply and just see what happens since I'm currently doing the CTI route?

Granted, I don't know much about CTI, but with the FAA hiring OTS, why not go for something else, and apply via OTS?

I picked 2ea. locations in the following states, in this order.

NC
SC
TN
IL
MO

Close-ish to family.

The listing mentions the following at the bottom.

To be considered applicants should selected "UNITED STATES" and "THROUGHOUT THE NATION" for their location preference. Duty locations/facilities assignments will be determined at a later date.

Holy crap! Thanks for pointing that out! Good thing it doesn't close until 2/15.

Whew!

If you apply and subsequently receive a tentative offer, you would have to make the choice of finishing the degree (declining the offer), or accepting the offer (discontinuing your degree). I am not sure if there is a possibility of deferring an offer by a class or two, but that may be worth researching with the FAA.

Also, this morning I received the following e-mail. It seems current OTS applicants are encouraged to apply for the latest OTS announcement.

The FAA has opened the new General Public announcement for Air Traffic Controller Specialist (ATCS) positions. This announcement is currently open and will close on 15 February 2008.
To receive additional consideration for future ATCS positions open after May of 2008, please apply to the announcement below.

I received the same email this morning from the FAA. Interesting last line in the email... I applied as well although at the rate the hiring process is going I'll be too old. haha. Passed the test at the begining of Dec and still no referal list. :(
