New Multi Commercial

I got my multi commercial add-on today... and I do have to say, I was quite pleased with myself. The whole checkride went extremely well, and I felt really good after leaving.

The gouge: Oral exam first! The oral was straight forward. My DE and I went over the books for the Seminole. The books were in order... so it wasn't hard at all proving the aircraft airworthy. After that, we started talking about aerodymanics. Pretty straight out of the book Vmc things... although he worded the questions with real world scenarios which was nice.... none of that rote listing everything that affects Vmc off kinda crap. We did some talking about aerodynamics in general, nothing too complicated. Then we moved onto certificates and documents... it was all basic stuff (what do you need to have on you at all times when flying, how long's a medical good for... easy stuff). Last, we covered systems. He told me to pick five systems, talk about each a little bit, then give some examples of potential things that could go wrong with the system. I picked the landing gear, prop governor, electrical system, carburators, and the starter. I talked through the systems... talked about potential problems and what I would do if a problem arose.... and that covered the oral. It took a couple hours. I came out of there feeling extremely well.

Then, on to flying! We had a simulated engine failure on takeoff. Throttles back to idle. We took off, headed out to the practice area, and went through the PTS. The nice thing was, he figured I was a commercial pilot so I should pick the order of the maneuvers. So, I set up everything in my own order/time, which worked extremely well. It just so happened I was able to get the airplane configured at a nice 105 on the way to the practice area... so I got rid of the steep turns first. The most I got off was 30 feet. I was happy. Then, he did kill the engine on me... went through, shut it down, fired it back up... and on our way with the rest of the test. I did the slow flight, and stayed within 20 feet. Did the power on and off stalls. Easy. Did a Vmc demo, not a problem. We went to a small airport and did a couple of landings... a single engine landing (we did an emergency descent down to the airport), a short field landing, and headed back for a normal landing. No problems whatsoever. This is one of those tests that I felt wonderful about from minute one until the end. I never had any of those, "I hope he didn't see that" moments on the flight. Overall, I was extremely happy, and it's one more test done.

Now, onto the MEI... and then I'll be done for awhile! Yeah!

That is great reading that; thanks for the report and congrats. How many hrs in the pa44 did you do? As it stands now I'll take the same test sometime next week (hopefully).

I actually had my Multi Private already... so that added to the ease of the test. After the test today, I had a total of 97 hours in the Seminole (all of my multi time is in the seminole)... so I'm getting right up to that 100 hour mark.
