Hey everybody, my name is Dan and I am a student at Regional Airline Academy in Deland, Florida. I found this website a few days ago and signed up, seems like lots of great folks here. Havent had any time to post yet though because the curriculum here demands a LOT of studying. It is a fast paced environment, but I love it. I just had my first solo this afternoon after only 14 hours of instruction. I am still in Private Ground School, but have only 7 more days of that(30 day course). I will definately let you all know when I pass the writtens and the check ride. I will also start being active in the forums here so I guess I'll see you all around!!!

Welcome aboard! And make sure you have some tough skin. There will be things that people say where you might not agree, and you may think they are 'picking' on you. Just realize that with this many people you will never get them all to agree. There is plenty of good info to go around.

Welcome,

How about using this thread as kind of a daily blog? I would be interested in keeping up with your training. Several here have done that.

Welcome aboard and congrats on your first solo. Wow ... 7 days left of private training and you still need roughly another 20-25 hours of flight time ... that's really going to be fast paced.

You ought to post your thoughts on RAA in another thread. Many on the boards aren't too fond of the school and you should offer your first-person experience with us.

That is so not true, JEP. You have no idea what you're talking about.

( oh yeah, for those of you that can't figure it out...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I really appreciate it. I dont know why anyone would have anything bad to say about RAA. From what I have seen it is a first rate facility with a first rate fleet and staff. Granted, I havent even been here a month yet, but from what I have seen I think I am in the right place. And the idea of a daily log is a pretty good one, but I think I may do a weekly update or something like that instead. Im sure I wont be able to post everyday anyways, with all the studying. But heres a quick update for those who care: After my solo I had an exam for ground school. This was my "stage 2" exam. I scored a 96% on it, and last week scored a 92% on the "stage 1" exam. If I keep this up I should be able to get a 90% or better relatively easily on my final FAA written exam. Wish me luck!!!
