New job and first type rating.

Great job. I may join you at Mesa. I have a phone conversation set up with Mesa. Houston as a base would be fabulous and that option makes Mesa my first choice since that is an easy commute from my home (by car). I think that requires me to be on an Ejet to get Houston. Fingers crossed that is an option.
This will be regional number three, right? Why did you quit the last two? I wouldn't take a job for a base because in the RJ world they open and close all the time. Also the way I understand it, if you get the CRJ you can't bid over to the ERJ till upgrade. You would be a line holding CA a few away from a flow if you stayed at PSA.

Nope. I always owned my own company and still fly contract work. But that has dwindled down to about 2 flights a month now as airplane owners retire or used me to get their pilot certificate and now fly themself. So that is the majority of my experience.

I was with PSA in 2013 and 2014. My first 121 job and how I got my ATP and such. I left to have time with an ill family member. During the last few months I worked 135 flying air ambulance and my other flying. Now it is time to go back to the airline world I learned to love. Oddly, I thought I would dislike airline flying, but I found it to be my best job ever (although the pay is painful). Sometimes you have no clue until you try it.

I love PSA. But I really can't do that commute again. And me and my fiancee spoke about that. We decided for us the best choice would be flying the EJet at Mesa out of Houston as that keeps me at home the most and makes us not have to relocate.

Flying the ERJ with Envoy out of Dallas was second choice since that one leg flight is short, but still is a commute so puts that second choice (the 5 hour drive, too far to drive). And we feel Envoy has a bright future.

Third and final choice was selling our house and relocating to Gatlinburg to fly for PSA. But we both really dislike cold weather and we both love Texas. But PSA is a great place to be so they came in third.

Forth choice was to just keep doing contract work until we figure something else out or decide what would be acceptable for relocation if I look at other regionals.

So. That was our three viable choices in that order.

Oh. And those were likely all overanalyzed scientific choices given our immediate (regional with highest quality of life if staying in San Antonio) and long term goal (Southwest Airlines).

For what it's worth, I'm at skywest and just got awarded IAH. I'm still on IOE. Granted, I started new hire class in november but it's still an option for guys wanting to be based in houston. Either way, if any of you end up in houston, give me a shout.

It's mid march, it taking that long to get through sims? CRJ?

Congrats! I had a fine time during my brief stay at Mesa, other than the pay. But certainly no worse than the other two I was at. Plus working that close to home is going to be great.
