New Colgan Rumot straight from a Colgan

One of the FOs at my base just came back from recurrent this past week. He said Chuck Colgan told his class that a minimum of 10 Saab 2000s are coming to the company in '07 to be flown for either CAL or Delta. Both companies are very interested. $10/hr increases over current FO rates are speculated for the 2000.

BTW, I don't vouch for the validity/accuracy of what Chuck Colgan said, what the FO said, or even the existence of said FO or Chuck Colgan.

90% of all airline rumots are started by the mechanics ... at least that's the rumor, anyway.

There's a lot of truth to that.

I've been doing the airline thing for about 11 years and it's always "I was in recurrent and (blank) said" or "A mechanic was all giddy about that we're acquiring..." or, and my favorite, "I've got a confidant in the training department that just took delivery of a stack of (aircraft type) manuals and we're going to announce an order..."

I think the hard pill to swallow is that pilots are pretty low on the totem pole in an airline corporate environment. We generally hear things when the media hears it. So generally, if it isn't already on news.google.com, it's nothing more than a rumor.

Sometimes pilots even start rumots to see how far they'll go. We've had a couple of check airmen (from what I hear) start rumors here that got WAY out of control....

I still hear the 70 seater rumor constantly as well as the "We're getting the 15 CRJ back next bid."

Any updates on CASS at Colgan?

Word I heard regarding CASS at Colgan is it should be up and running w/in the next two - three weeks.......that's straight from the CP's mouth.

Now, I'm not sure if he uses the Roman Calander system or not.....he may still be on Mayan time.....so, guess the news is that it should be around "soon." What's "soon" you ask? You'll know when it happens....lol

That's funny. I was in that recurrent class and don't remember hearing it. Maybe I was asleep... I do remember hearing about having a bid in for the 50+ flying for continental in the people's republic of texas. It wasn't tied into the 2000 though.

CASS...hah, that's a good one!

This is VERY funny.

My concern if they do this is will they allow us to transition to that airplane if we have the seniority?

CASS will be with us by the end of the year. It will be our 'Christmas Bonus'.

didn't you also say Dash 8's are coming not too long ago? :) maybe this is just a ploy to keep the junior FO's hanging around (ie the golden carrot...)

The big rumor at awac is that they are buying a portion of midwest and current senority pilots will all have seniority numbers @ midwest. Believe it or not some people are actually buying it. It's kinda sad in a way.

No way in heck will awac get the midwest flying. My vote goes for chautauqua. They are cheaper and produce the same if not better quality product.

Thank you Cruise. I'm looking forward to Colgan w/ CASS. It'll give me another option in the coming years. Thanks again.

If that was the case, wouldn't you guys have a seniority number at US Air? :)

Man, just what CHQ needs.....Skyway guys out to lynch them.

Hah... we're owned by the guys and they won't even give us a number.

yeah but at one point (pre merger) eastshore holdings (awac) OWNED 26% of US Air :)

now they just own 13% or so. that seat on the board has really helped out the situation (NOT).

Not sure about the saab 2000, but i rant into Mike Colgan Sr. tonight at IAD and he and a few others were headed down to ATL for the RAA conference. He had a nice ppt presentation going on his laptop. The talk was flying in the near future for a fourth carrier........
