New CFI question

So, lets say one gets an initial CFI like, oh, today. The temp says, "pending" for the number.

So how to you sign off on dual given and endorsements while "pending"? Just add CFI onto the end of he commercial number? Dug through the regs, and feel dumb for not asking the DE this before going home.

Should this be cause for a congrats??

I would use the cert # from the commercial and ammend it with "CFI". that should cover you.

yeah, I guess

I'll write more about it later, am tired after this last week.

Ok, so I know that is what it will end up as, but I was trying to find some justification for that, since I don't actually have a piece of paper that says that is what my number is (or number with 3 letters added on as the case is).

Thanks for the quick reply.

I asked the FAA inspector that same question, he told me to write pending as my certificate number. Remember you are writing your Flight Instructor Certificate number, NOT your Commercial Pilot Certificate number. That being said, he told me I will probably receive a new issuance of my pilot certificate with whatever new number they assign to me when the paper work for my flight instructor certificate is processed by OKC.

What about expiration date? Since it is a temp, it isn't good for 2 years, just the 120 days, right?

The expiration date will be in two years. here is how i have been signing logbooks.

SUSPilot CFI Pending Exp 5/06

Ok, that is the format I would use (different name of course).

I asked this because I have heard more than one person say, just take your commercial number and add on CFI. I stated that would be a new number, that doesn't belong to me, and asked where they have seen that could be done. Uhhhhh is usually the response

I did think I could add extra stuff to cover it, sign with commercial number, then also CFI Pending. So it would look like:

My Name 123456 CFI Pending exp 05/06
