New CFI! OKC FSDO

Well, 1st attempt with the FSDO...... It was a fierce battle from the start... Well, not really. I met FAA Inspector Jim Stokes yesterday morning at Atlantic Aviation in OKC. We walked across the street to the FSDO and got started.

I will keep this brief, but if you are fortunate enough to get this guy as an inspector, you will be better for it. Awesome guy, VERY FAIR and wants you to succeed. The flight was actually FUN!

good job! I've heard about Stokes, and heard the same thing. There are FSDO guys that aren't jerks and actually want to see aviation grow over atrophy.
 
Planedriver-congrats. I've gotten my 2nd pink slip from Chris Morris at the same FSDO, just yesterday actually. How was the oral and the ride (without being short)?

What are you getting your pink slip for Patthepilot? If you don't mind answering, I am curious what they are holding you up for.

Pat, the oral was about 3.5.... All situation, scenario based stuff.... Very in depth. With him you have to know the sectional like you designed the dang thing. 1.5 hours on sectional (airspace, navigation, flight planning) alone. Hint hint......

The flight was actually FUN. Yes, I said it. I flew with the FED's and had FUN doing it. :laff: Believe it or not.... Flight was 1.2. Very busy, all commercial stuff... I have heard bad things about Mr. Morris. I can promise you I would have had the flu had they scheduled me with him. Mr Stokes is AWESOME....

There are those that call me lucky...... I say luck is nothing more than the intersection of opportunity and preparation.

He commended me on how well prepared I was.

Chris = bad news normally....would NOT recommend him.

Pat, were you the gentleman I talked to inside of Atlantic? I asked if you were flying the Lance...

Planedriver, where you in the orange/white 172RG?

On a side note, I have 2 friends who took their initial with Stokes and both had a really good time and passed the first time. They highly recommended him.

I was in a blue and white 172RG. N9393B. Was that you in the Lance? If so, that was me that drove around you while you were doing your runup.... Small world. :)

Nope, wasn't me in a Lance, I WOULD have been in a 172RG. I won't go into much detail now, until I pass the freakin' thing. But it sure is getting old. Next time up is June 10th.
