Having grown up in Florida, I can help you out here. Bring the following:

-shorts
-t-shirts
-sandles
-sunglasses
-SUNSCREEN (seen too many of you Euro guys get baked by the sun here)
-baseball cap

That should get you through 8/10 of the year. The other 2/10, you'll need a light jacket. Maybe a sweatshirt - and jeans.

But, being from Austria, it may not be too cold for you.

As for diving equipment - great diving over on the Atlantic side. Better down in the Keys. You'll enjoy that. I'd bring your mask, fins, snorkle and B.C. if you have one. Most places rent tanks and respirators.

Hope that helps a little. Drop me a line if I can be of any further assistance with adjusting to FL.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

I too will be heading down there in the next couple of weeks and being from Boston, I would fall into that same category as a European by getting baked in the sun!!

Thanks!

I may be down there in about a month to check the place out, might be finishing up my comm stuff this fall there (if not sooner). I'll be the Floridian laughing at your burned skin. I'll laugh b/c it took me a few months of having my Tennessee skin flayed off before I got adjusted.

european guys are tasting better when baked

thanks for your advices...what about living at ari ben? do you cook every day? is there a supermarket near the training facility? or do we have to eat each other, the baked euros?

Don't worry, you won't need anything when you get here. I'll have it ready for you.

[// throwing match onto charcoal and watching flames build in anticipation of having some tasty grilled european.........oooh, the central kind...my favorite! //]

Seriously, there is a grocery store and pharmacy about 1 mile away from the housing. Several restaurants....if interested. A video rental store. Basically, if you need it, you can find it in close proximity to the housing.

I cook fairly regularly....when I have time. Usually, I'll make enough to hold me over for a couple of days. Leftovers are great....beats cooking every night.

Uh, guys...he's from Austria, not Australia (i know you were joking r2fly!). There's a big difference in geographic location!! No biggie, she'll be right mate.

BTW, I'm from Australia!

Cheers,

PS. I wish I could afford to throw a shrimp on the barbie. Unfortunately, after paying out for my pp-asel, I have to be content with snags (sausages), cheap steak and chicken! You know what's funny? Most Australians don't cook shrimp on the bbq....it was invented by the Australian Tourism Commission to entice foreigners to visit our country! Tried to make us look exotic or something!
