Need leeds on lowtime Job near Detroit.

Hey all. I've been hitting the pavement hard since the first of the year looking for work around Detroit, and have come up with nothing. :( Which all of us in the same boat probably feel disappointed as I do.

I am a family guy, with a new daughter(8 weeks old), and really need to find some work to put my certificates to work. I am just shy of 300 TT, sitting at 290 hrs, 140 ME. I have CFI, CFI-I, ME-I. I am working with the local CAP unit to put my training to good use while I have the time, and getting checked out in their 182 glass. Probably 3-4 weeks till that is complete. I have experience in C172, PA28, and PA44.

I am looking for any kind of work, around Detroit, and possibly out of state if I can find an employer understanding the need for me to go home one weekend a month or so to see my family(I don't want to be an absent father for my daughter). I am very enthusiastic about flying, and would like a job I can grow with, not just something to build time. Have you tried the schools at PTK, VLL, ARB & YIP?

You may also want to stop by Murray and Kalitta for their 135 departments. They have hired lowtime in the past. It's a long shot but the worst they can say is no.

Try Corporate Flight up in PTK, or IFL group,

JXN might have some stuff as well.

Check the Toledo airports, there isnt alot at express but the one just south of it has a small private op.

They are adding a FBO in the near future near where I work, But I have no idea when that is coming to fruition.
 
I was looking into them a while ago, i mean like 10 months, and they are bad at responding to emails. Make sure you go in person.


Is Fin still the cheif CFI?
 
Thanks for the leads, on my todo list for this week. I have been all over PTK, flight 101, sutton, etc. I went into Corporate last week, dropped my resume off, I know I dont have much TT, but I figure it gets me in the door. I ended up in YIP too last week, dropped off to one flight school which has no students(wish them luck), and solo aviation. Boss was too busy with child in the back room to talk to me, But said later this week was good, so I am going to swing back there, its only gas right? ugh.

You went as far north as Sutton? That's one heck of a drive from the Detroit area! I grew up about 30 miles north of Lapeer and did my private and instrument rides with Barry. Good guy, I'm sure a good operation, but man what a drive.
 
Oh and have you tried Eastern Michigan? They're based out of Ypsi.

Further, you should consider the Jetcareers Michigan Meet and Greet that's coming up (I think it's coming up at least). I had to leave Michigan to find instructing work, but every job I've gotten has been through this website.

When is this meet and greet I keep hearing about?! I have yet to see an actual place date or time posted.
 
I looked at the thread myself. And came to the same conclusion. Is it in May? June? East side, west side of the state? Not 100% sure. I wouldn't mind trying to set something in stone for the east side. Being unemployed with a daughter, and any money I do have goto staying current makes traveling to the west side hard.

Check out Novi, Clinton Township & Macomb Township....They all have some good areas and Downtown Mt. Clemens has some descent adult libations establishments.
 
It'll all depend on where Emily ends up working. If it's in Ann Arbor, then we'll try to live in that direction. The drive from Plymouth, Canton and Ann Arbor is about the same to either University of Detroit or Wayne for me.
