Hi All,

I was looking at joining the NAFI. Can anyone tell me what type of products at Sporty's get the 20% off? I would look for myself. However, I do not have access to the "Member's Only" section.

I was thinking about buying a [Garmin] GPS unit -- and 20% off that price alone would pay for the price of a years membership.

Apearently they've decided all AOPA members who are CFI's have become honorary members for a year.
So far I've just received a lot of worthless propaganda and some plastic pin on wings.

And all NAFI members are getting complimentary AOPA membership.

I guess this is NAFI's counter to the recent internal turmoil.

I think NAFI is pretty useless except for their Mentor magazine. That magazine is worth the membership dues alone.

I haven't made a big price purchase in about 7 years. 20% of nothing isn't worth $40.

I've been a member for 5 years, and my membership expires at the end of this month. I have no plans to renew it. Like jrh said, the Mentor magazine was pretty good, but even it has become more advertising than articles. Also, it seems to me that more and more of the articles are about LSA training. I think it is a good thing to promote, but there are less and less articles on advanced training, which is of more interest to me.

It is the only way I can get affordable MEI insurance now. Avemco used to do it and they stopped.
