NATCA would like your help

Hey forum members, I am an FAA air traffic controller and proud Natca member. The following is some information on our latest battle with the FAA.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) have been engaged in contract negotiations since July 2005. The FAA is currently seeking to unilaterally impose a contract on the air traffic controllers, gutting basic principles of fairness and good faith bargaining... An imposition would further deepen the air traffic controller staffing crisis.

"The bi-partisan FAA Fair Labor Management Dispute Resolution Act of 2006” would ensure fairness and accountability by creating a three-step process...

Please take the time to visit and review the information on http://www.fairfaa.com/ and if you agree with our stance send an email to your member of Congress to support the nation’s air traffic controllers.

Thanks in advance for any support and I'll check back often is anyone has any questions.

I also encourage all pilots to help us out! I am currently a CFI, but completed ERAU's ATC program and am awaiting employment as an air traffic controller. The contract the agency wishes to impose unilaterally would cut air traffic controller pay by up to 30%! For the level of stress this job has it would cause many of those interested in the profession to seek other work thus complicating an already dangerous staffing problem. Please support both current controllers and us prospective ones and write your representatives in Congress. I mean we are talking about the safety of the national airspace system here!

Heck yes. Let us know how we can help.

BTW, I shared the van with a bunch of NATCA folks to the airport in SLC a few days ago, was there a mountain region meeting going on?

Doug... we appreciate any help. Through the website people can just fill out some basic information and their support will be emailed to their politicians.

As far as where the Natca folks were headed, Natca is split up into regions, they used to mimic those of the FAA (pre ATO). All the various Natca reps meet in their respective region each month for an executive board meeting, that's most likely where they were headed. With all that is going on they have been meeting more often.

Thanks again.
