my week of aerobatics

Tld

Waffles Brah.
So I have been spending the week flying aerobatics and like I told my aerobatics instructor, think this week may cause me to drastically alter my aviation career path :) anyways, thought i would share a few pics and a video (mods please move this if it belongs in vids, thanks)

And a special thanks to my aerobatics instructor for some of the pics and the cinematography!

thats awesome man. I went up in a Christen Eagle II 540 a while ago. I fly aerobatics on FSX in the Christen Eagle so it was really cool to do some of this stuff real world. The guy I flew with wasn't an instructor, but he was an IAC unlimited pilot and has his own custom airshow plane that he travles the nation with.

Needles to say it was an awesome exp. I hope yours was as good as mine! It sure looks like it!!

i was wondering when you would chime in....
go use that new ticket of your's and log some aerobatic time!
After i get my instrument.
They do that fun stuff a few miles from me at KARR, but im wasting cash on my florida trip

:(

i need cash hahaha

That is one thing id like to get back into alot more. I was more or less teaching it full time towards the end of my full time CFI gig and it was some great flying. Since they do not want any part timers and the 8KCAB is 200/hr and the 300L isnear 400/hr renting is out.

The good news is that word has gotten out that I was/am an aerobatic instructor so I have two guys lined up this summer to do some work with them in an Eagle and a Pitts that they own.

Good on you for going out and doing some acro. I hope the instructor was good and did some unusual attitude stuff with you and showed you not just the maneuvers but more importantly ALL that can go wrong with the maneuvers and how to correct it. When I say wrong I do not mean wrong like letting a wing drop on a loop I mean getting to slow in inverted flight and stalling the plane upside down. A simple fix but a MUST TEACH.

Indeed my instructor was amazing. I will recommend him to anyone (pm me). Along with being incredibly fun, flying aerobatics has given me an extremely tangible understanding of aerodynamics. You can talk about aerodynamic principles all you want, and even feel confident in your understanding, but seeing it in action is so valuable that i think all pilots could benefit from this type of flying.

I fondly remember spin training in a C152 for the CFI rating, so much fun. Maybe in a month when 2nd year F/O pay kicks in I can start doing some of this for fun. :nana2:

Anyone know of a good aerobatics school near NYC?
