The job comes with some nice $

But really that is not what is the most important reason to get the job.

We had one of these inspectors on a flight recently. She introduced herself to me with her credentials, and I was thinking I was getting ramp checked or a ride-a-long. She said, "no, I am just here to ride in the cabin and observe the flight attendant." I thought, wow what a great job!

Good luck!

So you get paid to observe?

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, no. It's *much* more than just doing observation rides. A cabin safety inspector works with an airlines FA training departement in almost all respects, program delvelopment, classroom lecture content, procedure development, ensuring compliance with FARs regarding cabin safety. There's a lot more too it than just what you see when one shows up to do an observation ride.

I'm still waiting to hear back about the status of my application. The bid closed on the 8th, I'm just hoping I'm even qualified enough to get an interview! Well, I meet all the posted qualifications, I guess I should say that I'm hoping there aren't many better qualified canidates out there!

ohh that sounds pretty darn kewl!! let us know what happens!

*crossin fingers for ya*

You are the perfect candidate for the position! Plus, having worked for AMR, you will know just how to deal with the gov't! LOL

Ha! Yeah, 7 years of AMR will do that to ya.

Update:

OMG I got letter today from the FAA that is NOT a rejection letter!!! It was a form letter with many different 'options' to select, ranging from "you don't live in the area of consideration" to "you don't meet the minimum qualifications" to what was checked on my letter, and that was "Your application was referred to the selection official. The selection official may contact you for an interview and will notify you of your selection/non-selection for this position".

This means I may actually get an interview!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif

I'm freaking out here!! Okay, I'll try to save the freaking until after I actually get a call for an interview....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bandit.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buck.gif
