New tax law, new baby, new house, sounds like a job for a professional.

Anyone know a good CPA or a good place to start looking for one?

Can't help you there, but while you're looking, do invest a couple of bucks into turbotax and run the options yourself just to have a baseline in mind while talking to the CPAs.

You only have to pay when you file so you can run that all for free.

Your situation is pretty basic though, the most difficult is the kid and trying to get daycares to give up their EIN number so you can get more child care deduction. The new tax law stripped quite a bit of the expensable things for a W2 job. I'm happy about the 20% pass through wish that happened for 2017!

Ask your non-pilot friendly financial advisor.

“Pilot Friendly” services make me nervous. Like a “Rock Friendly” doctor just means that Nikki Sixx can get his Adderall-OxyContin drug cocktail by saying “Doc! I have a rash!” :)

I wasn’t sure if it was advantageous to seek out someone who had worked with pilots or not. Maybe it’s just me that thinks I’m special...

I figure you’re making enough to spend a couple hundred and hire a professional to do that for you and stand by the result. I can probably change my own brakes, but by the time I get it done, and making about sixteen different trips to the auto parts shop and probably lacerating my hands a few times, it’s best to have a pro do it. :)

Not a bad idea, thanks.

You might want to try American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) site. I just did a quick search of the Loop and the entire gamut pulled up, from big name firms to mom-and-pop shops. As @Cessnaflyer said I would run the numbers myself even if you end up opting for a CPA. My ex was a CPA and she used TurboTax herself.

I’ll promise you...no need for a CPA...unless you own a business that does weird offshore investment. Your are a typical tax return..Turbo tax will do you just fine. And I’ll assume you will not exceed the 25k standard deduction...so it’s basically a 1040ez form now.
