Aspen Helicopters will be hiring soon and they can be pretty flexible on the total time if you've got prior survey experience or are in SoCal. It is a commutable position so you can live in much of the lower 48 and your travel to and from the job sites will be paid for.

We'll be hiring one pilot in the near to immediate future and come May we should have an additional one to four openings. In the time I've worked here we've had 5 ex survey pilots working here (Picto and Aperture/AAK) and since I'm likely the guy training the new pilots on the road it'd be great to not have to start from scratch.

Hotel, rental care and GSA per diem are paid for while you're on the road. You get health benefits and are overtime eligible. The pay is well above the average for mapping.

I'll happily forward off anyone's resume to my bosses that has spent time doing survey or is near the Oxnard area, otherwise your best bet is to apply through the website. www.Aspenhelo.com

We have 5 Partenavias and a Chieftain. If you're in the Oxnard area or nearby there is quite a bit of local flying and it's usually pretty fun and interesting, but there are some 135 operations too just flying out to the Channel Islands and a few other airports nearby.

We may have a lot of work this summer so if you're looking for short-term work to build enough time to bridge the gap on your ATP that might be arranged when the Summer work starts to hit.

Legit company. I spent almost a year there and loved it, always treated really well by management. Plenty of chances to do some "different" and unique flying too.

When you say a lot of work this summer what would you say the monthly average is?

The monthly average in the summer tends to be higher. I was flying pretty much every day in Sacramento in late June/early July and it depends on what kind of survey and mapping we're doing. That said it is dependent on the project and what kind of survey type work you're doing and the occasional contract that calls for two pilots. You can build time faster at some other Picto and survey companies as having a rotation means you're not out in the field much, but I would come here if you're looking for a much improved QoL/pay and some interesting work rather than the quickest time builder to the airlines. If I had to give you a number for the summer it'd be somewhere around a 100 hours per month for a plane out in the field.

When do you need pilots? I'm on contract with a picto vendor until May 15 and then I'll be doing my multi add on. Would 10-12 multi time be enough? I'll have 1,000+ and 7 months of previous survey work.

That should be enough total time, but waiting a week or two on top of that for your ME add on would be tricky as we're probably looking to make sure people are hired, trained and ready to go around the time your contract expires. We might have one or two openings in late may/early June. I'm not management and can't guarantee anything, but you can always shoot Alex an email and maybe followup when you get your multi.

Cass or Jumpseat agreements with any airlines?

I applied few weeks ago and received no respond yet, should I apply again? Or just keep being patient?

I'm not sure. If you sent your resume to Alex he may have started calling people. I talked with him today and he said he had a few interviews scheduled, but he recently got back from a vacation and has a lot of stuff to catch up on.

Aspen is looking to immediately hire at least one more pilot right now, possibly two. If you have some ME time, around 1,000 TT, and are looking for that next job, send me your resume at ablasingame@aspenhelo.com. Please put Jet Careers in the subject so I know where you found us. Survey experience is a great plus.
