Multi Engine Rating???

I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get your multi engine if you are not worried about the total multi time.

I have heard get to PPL multi and then get your comm single with the multi add on.

I have heard just get your comm single and then add your multi add-onn.:)

I have heard just skip the comm single and get the comm multi.

Are these techniques all legal, and if so what would you recommend as far as getting the multi, because the company I am looking at has no multi-min requirement for F/Os

If you want both a comm single and multi (which most people do), I would personally recommend getting the commercial single first, with an instrument rating of course. Then get your multi add-on. This eliminates a checkride (multi private) versus getting the multi first.

does anyone else have any other insight to this thread? because i too have the same dilema

It usually comes down to how much money you want to spend and whats the most efficient way to go about doing it.

Getting the comm. single first is a common route.

However, I did the comm. multi first... (school curriculum) and probably ended up with a few more dollars spent than need be.

If you want to log the Multi time as PIC, for your commercial training, after about the first 10-15 hours of COMM ME training, see if you can get a checkride for a PP Multi add-on. Thence, you can log the rest of your ME training as PIC time.

well why not just get an IFR multi ticket before you ever do your commercial so you can start getting some twin time early, and then get ur commercial in a single and then just do the multi-comm add-on checkride after that? or does that even make sense?

:yeahthat: Makes perfect sense...

I agree...obtain the ASEL Com first, then AMEL as an add on.

I'd agree here..... Then you have your complex and things will make more sense and make the multi that much easier to fly...... Other wise you'll be playing catch up to the plane for your 1st "x" amount of hours..... ATP 4 days cant be beat FYI..... ALthough i hear there's a place up in MI that's pretty good too! Couple choices out there..... CMEL should cost no more then like 2800 for 10 hours or so.

There are quite a few schools on Southern Florida that have great deals. I am in the process of preparing for the CMEL. But makes perfect sense to get to ASEL and add the AMEL to it.
