Mavb1 (it will be nice to talk to you again in person)

And anyone else that calls PHX home.

Anyone know a good Credit Union in Phoenix?

Welcome back!

PM Kristie and I your number and we'll invite you to the next 'board meeting'.

Well good luck in Phoenix! I think you'll like flying here! Just bring lots of water when you fly; summertime in the desert is right around the corner!

Welcome to Phoenix, you will like it here (I hope). PM me if I can help with anything. I live in Scottsdale which is about 30 minutes or so from Glendale. Take care.

I got my Private thru Commercial from Glendale and am currently working on my CFI (slowly). Nice people and laid back. Welcome to Glendale.

I'm living in Phoenix too... I'm currently working on my initial CFI at Stellar Airpark in Chandler AZ. If I can help you with anything... PM me! Hope you enjoy Glendale-- it's a nice airport-- and the people at Glendale Aviation seem really nice.

Glendale aviation looks really nice. As you said nice people good learning environment.

New C172's an Arrow and of course the C182T

Also very attractive rental prices.

Most (well all) my family lives in Tucson AZ. I hail from there orginally.

I have never actually lived in Phoenix but have an aunt, uncle and two cousins that live there.

I heard that it is like the 5th or 6th largest cities in America so I hoping that there is alot to do there.

And actualy dreading the move less now.

I'll be coming home to AZ alone so really won't know too many people besides family and a few childhood friends who migrated to Phoneix from Tucson.

So I'll definatlely be in touch with all my fellow Phoenix area JC-er's.

Mexican food. I can't see how being from Tucson enabled you to survive in Cincinnati/N. Kentucky without Mexican food!

I've never had any problems with the runway lights at Stellar. What kind of problems did they have?

Back in the day when I used to fly cargo out of there, there was about three runway lights working, and only the northern half was lit. Since I RTBd at night, landing on 35 was only for a REAL need (powerlines, no south-half lights), and on 17, you used the "lead-in" light curve that was near the park north of Chandler Blvd to align with the runway/VASIs (and the 3 working lights along the field), then land and rollout into "the abyss".

Yeah, they have chili in Cinncinnati, but they make it with CINNAMON and CHOCOLATE and serve it on speghetti?? Skyline Chili. Can't figure out how they can call it chili, but they do...

Sounds pretty intense, I'm not jealous! Yeah, I believe they got all the kinks worked out of the runway lighting-- but quite honestly, I've only flown out of Stellar a handfull of times at night. I'm still fairly new to using Stellar-- but I like it a lot then where I was doing flight training befor-- Deer Valley Airport.

I had a long layover in CVG during ChiliFest or whatever they called it. I wasn't all that impressed, but that's just me.

Truer words Doug have never been spoken.

These people out here seriously consider Taco Bell to be authentic mexican food (I'm sooooo not playin).

And Copaman your right....When I first tasted there so call "world famous" Cincinnati Skyline chilli I was like WTF is this.

All my friends bragged for days about how good it is. And I'm like this isn't f-in chilli.

Fortunately Doug my mom taught me how to cook. Which is prolly the only reaons I have survived out here for so long. I'm quite the cook.

So then I decide to cook my friends a real authentic mexican dinner one night.

And there all big wusses and slam water down there mouth to get rid of the burning hot spices and don't even finish the meal.

I'm like whatever "beee-yothes" more for me.

I made them my world famous enchiladas and 5 alarm Chilli.

So they got to taste what real mexican food taste like.

But I wasn't allowed to cook for them anymore and if I did I wasn't allowed to season the food as I'd prefer to. It was mostly water it down.

They have such bland palates out here.

When Corrie and I went out to visit PHX & TUS he still couldn't handle real mexican food said it always gave him heartburn and an upset stomach.

Anyways not lookng forward to my 2000 mile drive so take care and see you all soon.

As a guy who has moved many times - and is working on the next move, my best advice is when you arrive there make an effort to join clubs, go to bars, and just meet people. That will make the difference between a good time and a great time.

and now that they've passed the new last call bill, we can stay out and drink till about 2-2:30 in the morning! whoo hoo....NICE!

last call used to be around 12:30-12:45...
