Enjoy.

A completely open cockpit twin that burns a total of 5GPH at 80 knots with the climb rate that blows most planes out of the water and a sink rate that'll leave you holding onto your seat as tight as possible. Victor knows what I'm talking about! We were on the ground by the 1000 foot marker (keep in mind we had a 20 knot headwind).

Like I said, it's a true open cockpit aircraft. We yelled down to a few boaters below us only to hear them yell back! It was freezing up.

Awesome pictures Alex:rawk: That open cockpit aircraft looks fun. It would be cool to fly one around the mountains up here.:)

Hey, nice pics.

Say, when do you start to work at your home airport again? The guy that works behind the counter is so unfriendly and coarse, he might as well tell me to go to Millville the next time I go on a cross country. :(

Tall with dark hair or short with grey hair? If you're able to come over on the weekends from 7-3 you'll find one of the friendliest linemen I know, but he's just a weekend man. I'm not sure when I'll start again, probally in April.

Well I flew over there today. The gray haired guy was there and he seemed alright, so it must be the other guy I was talking about.

A shiny unpainted 737 with winglets was there today. It departed VFR.

later,

Mike

The grey haired guy is really nice, he's just a bit quiet on some days. There were probally 4 or 5 737s there today (and everyday), I guess the one you saw was going up to ILG to get gas and head back to Seattle.

man you're a talented photographer. im gonna feel dumb posting my solo pictures up here in coming hours/days.

im working on resizing them right now

Why are there B737s down there?

I use a Canon D60.

The more important question: What kind of lenses do you use? It looks clear enough to be L glass in many of your photos. You are very good with the lighting for sure.

Closing in on #1000 too I see.

Hey,

I can't afford L glass, I couldn't even afford to buy a new camera! I bought the D60, Sigma 170-500 and 28-135 all second hand for $800 last summer and just picked up a Sigma 10-20 in Febuary. Hopefully I'll be joining you in the 1000/1000 club some time next month.

All the best,

Alex.

What kind of set up would everyone recommend taking photos from the cockpit in flight? I see a lot of planes flying by only +/- 1000 feet and I really can't get a great picture with my digital.

any suggestions?

thanks

I think a 70-200L would be good. Maybe add a 1.4 converter to it. That would proably come in around $1500 or so. A 100-400L would be good too but it is a large lens. I would love to get the 100-400L and combine that with the 28-135 IS lens. If money is no object then go for a 500mm prime :)
