Montserrat, outside of Barcelona

I was able to get a 48 hour Barcelona layover and here are some of my pics from the day trip to Montserrat: Pics

Some are from the first day when we didn't leave Barcelona, some are from the second day and unfortunatley, since it was a combination of my camera and my iphone, they're not necessarily all in chronological order.

That's myself and Mike Donatelli, BTW. He's the ALPA national strike preparedness chairman if you're familiar.

When I get a little more time, I'll add some commentary to some individual photos. But if you have the chance, GO to Montserrat. Photos can't even get close to capturing the beauty of the area.

Dude, I didn't know you were Asian!! :D

Dude Dough, you know i hate you right? Keep up with these photos, and i swear, i'm gonna drop all this ATC stuff, and law enforcement crap, go pull out a loan and be a miserable airline pilot!

Haha just playing. Looks like a CRAP LOAD of fun! Enjoy it brotha!

BTW, how's the 3 treating ya? Looks like you were actually at the speedlimit there? ;)

Barcelona, where you know where to go, have a day for tapas and bar crawls and then a day for exploring the region is loads of fun... all while earning per diem and a fantabulous hotel.

The three, or the "drei" as SkyRunner1500 would call it is fantastic. Max finally got a peek a few weeks ago.

Now on the to-do list

What nice scenery.

I wanted to go to Barcelona but I wasn't going to have enough backup flights so I went to Madrid last week instead. Tapas...good stuff. 15 Euro all you can eat/drink place I went to with people from the hostel.

How did you get to Montserrat from the city? Easy train ride that doesn't cost too much? I see it on the map and it is farther than I imagined!

Re: Now on the to-do list

Montserrat was very easy. Just take the bus to the Plaza Espayna station. Go downstairs into the metro system and there's a Montserrat attendant. She'll give you information and send you to another specialist by the ticket machines and they'll sell you an all-inclusive ticket that will get you from Plaza Espanya to the Montserrat "AERI" station. Take the direct train for 65 minutes. You arrive at Montserrat "AERI", your ticket is good for the funicular for a five minute ride to the top of the mountain and you're there.

It's good for a round trip and it's (lemme check...) 22.50 euro.

There's another funicular if you want to go to some of the other peaks.

I need to arrange the pictures a little more orderly when I get on the flight home so it makes a little more sense for everyone.

Go. It's amazing. Almost like your first time to the grand canyon.

Sweet man! My wife is from Barcelona, we're moving there in about a year and a half. Glad you had a good time

Nice pics. I asked Mike if he knew you when I saw him back in May but I guess he hadn't flown with you yet at that point. You run into a guy named Holmes yet?
