Mission to Mex...recommend a plane?

Hey guys,

I've been kicking around the idea of flying from the San Diego area to Isla Natividad, which is a small island off the coast of Baja. I'd be taking a buddy and 2 surfboards each, ranging from 6'3" to 6'8" that would have to fit in the baggage/backseat.

What planes do you all think would be an ideal plane for the mission? Any of you SD guys know if they are available for rent to take to Mex?

Thanks y'all

I would guess a C-182, and besure you have renter's ins as well as the owner of the acft having iit as well check AOPA I am sure they have the details.

There is some sort of registration sticker required for forays into Mexico. I don't know anything about it, but one of the planes in my flying club has one on it. I'm sure AOPA has the details on this requirement. Be sure to use a plane you have absolute confidence in mechanically; you will get raped for aircraft maintenance down there, and it's illegal to bring a mechanic down from the states to fix anything (so much for NAFTA).
