Military Form 8 to FAA Cert

So I currently have an FAA issued and current CFI/CFII.

I recently took a ride and received a Form 8 in a King Air 300/350 (MC-12). Because I already have the civilian CFI certs, can I go to the local FSDO and get my MEI with the Form 8? Are there any whirred tests to take beforehand like there were with CFI and CFII?

You can take your IP Form 8 to the FSDO and get a MEI without an6 type of additional testing.

As a note, a few DPEs around are deputized to do milcomp work as well if that’s more convenient. You can search for Mil Comp examiners here: http://av-info.faa.gov/DesigneeSearch.asp

As a follow up, what do you guys think the best way to list this credential on a resume? It's a unique situation, being a civilian with no AF career, yet having a Form 8 AF MC-12W evaluator/instructor pilot signoff.

How do you think that can be listed?

I say don't do it.

I have a buddy that tried this at a major and needless to say he wasn't offered the job.

My view: “Contract MC-12 Instructor/Evaluator” would be the right title.

Just don’t misrepresent yourself as appearing to be in the military, and you’ll be fine.

Are you a civilian or do you hold a rank in the Air Force? If you’re civilian, you will not be able to use a Form 8. The 8710 will ask for rank and service.

The FSDO should be able to do an equivalent though, "based" on the Form 8.
